"A great view on how we did it, HOE.
I'm wondering if we are forgetting the 27th person on the field, the referee. I'm watching a different game this year, where it feels referees are playing a huge part in the games. I can't get over the feeling…"

"All good mate, it must be something both clubs are open to. I have no idea why the dogs wanted Galvin (but they did). He would have been a much better fit with us. Sometimes there's things in life we simply don't understand or can't explain."

In saying that you have to wonder about it all as the nrl will surely give him a job at promoting the game as being safe and his injury was a freak accident. This is what Alex has come out today and said.
I don't believe the NRL has ever finalised or put in place an insurance policy to cover injuries and outcomes such as this. They do have 'slush' provisions but there is nothing saying they must cough up $X for example.
Pretty sure under the collective bargaining agreement signed maybe a year or 18 months or so ago, player wages have to be guaranteed for their contracts - Alex might be in this bucket however think back to Simon Dwyer, Tuaki, Daniel Conn etc - none of them were covered and they essentially rely on club goodwill.
The NRL have to find an insurance product - they are looking (have been for nearly 2 years), it's complicated, blah blah blah usual NRL tripe... then the clubs have to agree and also the players association. Clubs would be looking at pretty big money each year I would think to fund it.
As much as Alex deserves some support, in all of this I do feel sorry for the likes of those other guys who never received anything like the same...
I am more concerned for long term welfare if the young kid that had same injury a week or so earlier
no job for life or rise for that kid weekend
