Adjudicating

The eels, most games are on the wrong end of the penalty count. For the most part justified. However with ruck penalties open to interpretation , I'd like to see a more uniform approach by our officialdom so we the fans, players and coaches know the score. I'd like the refs when a tackles completed to shout held and count to three. If the ball player has a hand on him after the count automatic penalty. It would certainly cut the unabashed biased adjudicating concerning ruck penalties. Often it's the same clubs getting punished week in week out. CONSISTENCY

  • Ye pretty good idea but knowing these refs they will count to 3 at different speeds for different teams. If anyone can find a way to f@ck up a game of league its these NRL refs.

  • Two of Junior's laying on the tackled player penalties were an absolute joke.I was counting "one-one thousand,two-one thousand" at various stages throughout the game and there was no consistency at all.The ref was an idiot,I heard his  "I'm right on top of you mate" as he penalised Junior. So what? It isn't as though the laws of relativety go out the window the closer the ref is to the ruck.

    • Did'nt you know that the laws of nature don't apply to the refs. They have thier own set of laws.

  • Understand your frustration but counting to three would make every attacking player hold the defender on him trying to milk a penalty. It would open up a can of worms.
    • They do that now anyway.

  • No two tackles are the same . Which is why the count starts after the call of held.
  • LOL thats just pathetic. Maybe the ref liked the look of him and actually said get it up. Just a case of misunderstnding is all.

  • I hear what your saying Brett. The ref will always have to be subjective. If the ball carrier contributes to the tackler being impeded obviously discretion lays with the referee. My point however remains .certain teams are able to lay all over the ball carrier for an inordinate amount of time and their opposition far less. Three seconds after held allows far more common ground than what we currently have.
  • Agreed, certainly Parra seemed to be treated more harshly than Sharks. Only remember Sharks being penalised once for holding down yet they seemed to be no quicker than us to get off tackled player.

  • We got sevearly butt raped ...

    Two diffrent interpratations today.
