Reading the Tele today I noticed that the telegraph are advertising signed and framed posters of Semi for about $300.
My theory is that the telegraph engages in sponsorship deal with particular players.
The telegraph says essentially if you allow us to write non personal articles about you we'll either give you a certain amount of cash and/or we'll give you ad space to sell your signed merchandise.
This is a win win for both parties.
The tele gets to sell more papers and get more clicks online, the player gets money from the tele or free ad space.
It seems like this is what is happening with Semi.
He's allowed his manager to confirm to the Eels that he is staying with the club whilst allowing the Telegraph to fuel speculation that he is leaving.
All for the sake of some weird sponsorship arrangement.
I'm sure some journo would have some insight if I'm close to the mark.
God knows if the Tele came to me and said we want to write an article saying that you are thinking of leaving the game and we want to pay you $$ to not openly refute it, and sign your non disclosure form here, I might consider that deal.
Good for the player, good for the paper, bad for the suffering fans, but at least we'll keep reading.

Mate, you lost me at "reading the Tele today...."
I didn't pay for it, it was in a cafe on a table.
lol that makes it OK?
Maybe better, but still not OK :)
But I didnt pay for the hooker, I just paid for a room and the hooker was free. ;)
Who's the real idiot here ? The only way the Tele benefits from you reading it is if you buy it.
But I like Canadian Club!
Im drinking one right now
P.s - but $20 IS $20 just sayin.
No one thinks there could be any truth in this?
