A sincere thank you

Loyal Members,

Well, the 2010 NRL season has ended earlier for the Pirtek Parramatta Eels than we would have liked but it was still a year that we had much to celebrate - particularly the enormous support and loyalty we received from our Members and Corporate Partners. I wanted to drop you a line to say a sincere thank you from all of us at the club - from the Board of Directors, through to the administration, coaching staff and players - for your support during which was a tough season at times.

Yet there were still many highs. Like the incredible comeback victories against finalists Manly and Penrith, the latter of which equaled the club record of coming from 22 points down. Then there was the victory against the Melbourne Storm at home and Brisbane away and some of the unbelievable feats of Jarryd Hayne who confirmed himself as the most freakish talent in the game.

It was a year of milestones too with Nathan Hindmarsh breaking Brett Kenny's appearance record (Hindy hopefully will become the club's first 300-game player next year), Nathan Cayless passing 250 first grade games and breaking the all-time competition and one-club captaincy records with 220 games as Eels leader. Luke Burt passed 200 first grade games while Jarryd Hayne, Fuifui Moimoi and Ben Smith reached 100 first grade games. All these feats have one thing in common - they were achieved at the one club. Then there is local junior Tim Mannah receiving his NSW State of Origin call-up.

We can never guarantee on-field success in this tough, tight NRL competition and every year half the competing teams have to miss the finals. But while we strive to be in the top eight and to win that premiership that has evaded us for nearly a quarter of a century, what we can attempt to control is the value we give our Members and Corporate Partners and the relationships we build with them.

I know my staff have worked very hard in achieving that. They are passionate about it, as I know you are about your team. That was shown in the fact we averaged over 16,000 in our home crowds this season, by far the best in our history. The growth in our business and off-field success we've had in the past 12 months is something we are proud of and is largely due to the loyalty of people like you. It is something we appreciate and respect and that we must continue to prove to you that we deserve.

If you have any constructive thoughts on how we can further enhance your association with the Pirtek Parramatta Eels, we are always willing to listen to you.

In the meantime, thanks again for your continued support and we hope it continues for many more years.

"Yes absolutely ! I'd love to know if Atkins old man was treated badly or we owe him annual leave money or something. It's impossible that this ref misses as many critical calls against us if he has not got a gripe.
