Just reflect for a moment on when Holbrook was sacked by the Titans about this time last year.
Reported in the media like below:
"...Holbrook was released from his role as Titans coach effective immediately back on June 22nd, with two-time premiership winning coach Hasler named as his replacement within a couple of hours..."

WELL SAID!
The board operates on risk management model used in business practises . Problem is , these models are based on figures , bench marks , proportion in the salary cap etc.
Football clubs despite being a massive business these days is gut feel , runs on the board , environment and man management. You can never get thev100% right fit for any job. Sometimes you go with the best fit and find the smartest people to work around them .
You are spot on PT, the mentality of most accountants is risk averse and they traditionally have no/poor instinctive value's.
Being a banker (once upon a time) I used to wrestle with the process regularly, me being Treasurer and one of my best mates Financial Controller we used to take the piss out of each other all the time....my argument was just let me make it and I will leave you to count it. Unfortunately the banking world is now totally fcuked by accountants and lawyers and people in retail sales that have no idea of what a financial service is supposed to be!!
Paul/Pops, you share some of my biggest concerns.
Contrary to what many believe, from all the evidence I've looked at, the club has done a Mariana Trench deep-dive analysis into the best "coaching team" solution. Hence, the delays.
The ideology seems to be heading towards a mix of rookie, youthful ambition with experience in support (like Smith).
Their intentions are for the best for the club and they've done well to plug leaks and face the huge storm from the media, fans, some players and coaching staff.
Now for the issues. The consequences.
Other than the drama, anxiety and instability created by the delays, there is one problem that most seem to miss.
By negotiating and working out the "coaching team" prior to finalizing the head coaching contract or deal, it's devaluing and reducing the powers of a head coach.
You're not going to hold Wayne Bennett to ransom over his head coaching appointment, because he wants to choose assistants he wants and trusts - later if need be. He'll have an idea who he wants to work with and has a few weeks to months to sort it. He won't throw.Dr Jauncey away if the board or committee panel aren't all sold on it.
In a sense, it has a corporate scent to it. Structural heirachies to create the appearance of safety and stability.
The head coach becomes a quasi mid-level manager rather than a domineering Bennett I want it my way - between the higher echeloned committee panels that approve/reject and sign off on the "coaching team" and the lower echelons of the assistants, assistants of assistants - with the players towing the line.
Perhaps, this is another reason Bennett felt more comfortable with the rabbits.
It could be Ryles or Young. But Josh Hannay has the most active and competent public voice would seem the best fit into this model. And could serve as a quasi public shop front for the club (despite being partially castrated behind). He also symbolises the Modern Way. The future and all that jazz.
Personally, I would have just punted on the most competent and successful Head Coach who had he most leadership,.Commander-In-Chief qualities. Bennett or McDermott. But would love Brian Smith on board somewhere. There's plenty of good assistant around if you chase hard enough. Harder to find a high quality Leader than assistants despite the modern day obsession with them.
