Ego's??

Hi Guys,

My first blog ever, but I know a thing or two about the Eels being a supporter for 27 years!!

I attended the post match function at the Leagues Club on Saturday night (by chance after seeing the players walk up after I had dinner) and was a tad surprised at some of the players there. I must say that perception on TV is one thing but meeting them in the flesh is another. I love the Eels, always have & always will, however, I was a bit surprised at how some of them came acroos in real life. They were just standing there talking amongst themselves and not the fans. I am not expecting them to come over to me & my mates and have a chat, but was hoping for more of an effort or a more accomodating demeanour to chat to us. The exception to this was Tom Humble, Nathan Hindmarsh & Justin Poore who all said hello and had a brief chat. Tom Humble is a great bloke and has not got a ego at all.

Not stirring the pot at all, but would love to hear other peoples opinions.

Notable ommissions from the post match function - Nathan Cayless & Jarryd Hayne, but looks like the telegraph has beaten me to the punch here!!

  • Not everyone is comfortable going up to strangers for a chat. Hindmarsh is quite an affible easy going bloke and it comes naturally to him, by all reports Humble is the same. It is not necessarily ego (althought it might be with some) these are young guys remember - not seasoned politicians.
  • I wasn't there so hard to comment, but in the players defense we just had another close fought loss, another tough game and im sure they would have copped a pretty big post match gobful from Ando

Not really the recipe you want before being sent to a leagues club to 'mingle' with the fans.

The boys are usually really good with the fans, im sure a lot of them have egos but they understand they are nothing without the fans.

I think you'd have a different experience after a win or in better circumstances
