I have to say this and I may be wrong...but here I go. Didn't someone at Parra threaten to leave if he didn't get more money recently?. And it was paid by 3rd party provided by the club?
We all have seen the merry dance the managers play to get the player more money. So when a player wants more money who does he tell?
I think the NRL needs to get the players managers and find out their part in all this. Obviously the club is pressured into these under the table agreements by the players and managers and neither of them are concerned where it comes from.
As a player manager they are responsible for total financial affairs associated to the players contracts. Looks to me like some players managers need to deregistered.

And maybe... just maybe... it's the player managers/TPA system that are the real target of this forensic NRL investigation?
The NRL investigated us a matter of months ago, got to the bottom of our previous seasons and declared us cap compliant (and on notice). With the governance review recommendations the NRL set us on a course that would meet their requirements. So why are they investigating again?
The Watmough TPA nested-compnay issue alone is not a big enough issue to warrant this level of scrutiny imo, besides the fact he hasn't played a minute for us this season and is supposedly about to retire. The NRL would be privy to evidence from the previous investigation of how TPA deals are going down, and no doubt our club explained that this is how it works at other clubs too. So maybe... the NRL is using this investigation into "us" to really uncover how player managers routinely directly deal with clubs over their clients' supposedly arms length TPAs?
Perhaps the end result of this investigation will be the much desired stroner regulation of player manager activities, along with a much needed tweak for how the TPA system is indeed meant to operate?
