3 - Footy Dean

1- Lomax, Kautoga, Paulo.

Don't think there are any poor games in this squad. Honorable mention to Jack Williams, just create momentum.

  • iongi - 3

    Footy dean -2

    junior -1

  • 3 - Hawkins: He was outstanding today. I think he may be the answer to our 5/8 problem going forward. His defence was great too.

2 - Iongi: Loving this kid, he really is proving to be something special. Safe under the high ball and always there to support.

    1. Lomax: Chasing those kicks got us out of trouble a few times and turned the momentum in our favour.

Honorable mentions to Junior, Hopgood, Williams, and JAC who also stood up today and led by example. They showed their class a few times throughout the game.

  • 3 Paulo

    2 Iongi

    1 Hawkins

it was really noticed when Paulo went off and Titans got on top of us. We really miss Tuivati in our forward rotation. Well done Hopgood, best game all year

  • 3. Longi

    2. Paulo

    1. Hawkins

  • Junior was great, so was Iongi, Lomax and Footy Dean.

  • 3. Hawkins - that was an elite fg performance. Im starting to think he's the answer at 5/8 for next year.

    2. Iongi - was out standing to put on 3 or 4 tries. But once again, he had far to many errors that let them back in the game. However still a 9/10

    1. Williams - he's a best forward by a mile

    • I think it is hard to say Iongi "once again had far to many errors"  I can onlty think of a couple, one a high ball and the other one a straight mistake.  I think if there is a criticism it should be hanging on to the ball a bit too much, but that is something Ryles will work out wth him.

Hawkins being an elite performance is a bit over the top, depending on the word elite. I would have called it a competent professional performance you can ask no more of in the circumstances.

The reality is playing with Moses means he has to run more, how that works then goes on to the quality of attacking ability/finish of the centres outside him. If he was a couple of yards quicker I think he could be a FG half in a stand alone sense. At present he is the best possble replacement for someone who is shaping as injury prone re Moses.

I remember Ryles commenting earlier in the season that his role in second grade is like having a coach on the field. Not sure how long we keep him, given he has every right to be still ambitious.

      • Iongi threw the interception, plus a couple of balls he didn't need to push, and the knock on. Not trying to be too hard on the kid but it's been pretty consistant every week. Although he's been magic besides that.

in terms of Hawkins, he had it on a string. He was as good as Moses would've been last night, making it an elite fg performance. But yeah I hear your point about him being a replacement, but if he keeps improving i think it's very possible. Gotta remember he's 10 games into fg. I'm more just thinking of him as a stop gap until Lorenzo is good to go.  560 kicking metres, a try, a try assist, 2 line breaks and 0 tackles misses ahah if this isn't elite idk what it

        • You're going to get that from Iongi. And I'd rather him make mistakes trying to create points than go into his shell.

I remember Dylan Edwards was incredibly shaky under the high ball early in his career and had virtually no passing game. He's now a premier fullback.

          • RB, not going to get into the semantics of the discussion but I think the only thing we disagree on is the interpretation of elite and nothing changes in that we are backing the same horse.

I am comfortable with competent and professional. It can be a little like a racehorse, being a champion is elite, doesn't mean someone who isn't hasn't done something great.

I would be worried if we were starting every week with Hawkins for a reason I cannot quantify, all your points stand just the same.

PS I forgot about the interception pass re longi.... but I didn't subconsciously blame him.

"I actually think Penisini isn't as bad as it looks. If there's 3 in the tackle than ok but 1 on 1, the attacker always contributes to it as they actually tip themselves trying to get to the ground. I always find 1 on 1 lifting tackles are tough on…"

"Spot on.. can you imagine a top star from another team being suspended for Ryleys tackle? Wouldn't happen, such a soft tackle, media would be outraged. "
