The NRL have today confirmed round three and four of the 2020 NRL Telstra Premiership with the Blue & Gold set to face the Brisbane Broncos in the first clash of the competition's resumption.

Following a 10 week suspension due to the response to the spread of the COVID-19 virus, Blue & Gold Members and fans can now lock in the first two clashes of the revamped draw in their calendars!

ROUND THREE
Brisbane Broncos v Parramatta Eels – Thursday 28 May, Suncorp Stadium, 7:50pm

ROUND FOUR
Parramatta Eels v Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles – Saturday 6 June, Bankwest Stadium, 5:30pm

The Eels will resume the season from the top of the ladder with two wins from the opening two rounds, after victories over the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs and the Gold Coast Titans.

The remaining 16 rounds of the draw will be confirmed in the next two weeks.

Under the revamped draw, teams will play five opposition clubs twice in the 20-round format before a normal finals series takes place. The first week of the finals will kick off on Friday, October 2 before the NRL Grand Final will be played in Sydney on October 25.

All matches will be played behind closed doors until further notice based on current advice, restrictions and government approvals.

Strict protocols, known as the Project Apollo protocols, have been introduced for players, club officials and staff to adhere to, with sanctions applied if they are breached.

  • All NRL games are tough - should be a good test for us.

    • With this new rule their big forwards will smash our ruck

      • It's not like we have a small pack. This isn't the 2018 squad. Junior and RCG are big bodies. With Brown out we'll likely see Terepo in the side who adds more size and rolling off the bench will be Kane Evans.

Brisbane will be without David Fifita and TPJ due to suspension. Their major forward weapon is Payne Haas. Matt Lodge is out with an ACL injury. We've busted Payne Haas up before and we can do it again.

        • Lodge may be back. Brodie Croft is more of a worry for us - Brisbane are much more dangerous now they have a half back

  • What is it with Broncos getting a Thursday night game without supporters even attending?

    • Channel 9 run the game now. I'd be surprised if the Broncos are scheduled for any Saturday, Sunday or Monday game for the rest of this year. They'll get the clear benefit of consistent 7 day turnarounds each week because Channel 9 wamt them in those slots

      • Excluding public holidays, I'd be surprised if anyone is scheduled for a monday game this year...

        • Yes, Mondays will only get scheduled on public holidays. But you can be sure the Broncos won't feature in any of them.

        • There's actually a Monday game on June 8th...don't know why.

          • Its a public holiday
