1EE All-time Eels team: Fullback

Ok so i have decided to do an all-time team with modern day included. The way i will do it is limited to nominees, particulaly with less modern day players as since they have been chosen in other survey's no point in adding others. For example, no point adding Brett Hodgson to the list of all-time as he did not get voted in modern day team, that was Hayne.

So first cab off the rank is Fullback with only three options. Again if i missed anyone i apologise. But also have to think if they are not going to win the survey is it worth having them?

Also, please let me know if certain positions should have a survey, for example 5/8 we all know who it is so would we rather i just name the 5/8 and move on or do we want a survey for that spot? Same with Lock?

        • My late grandpa used to tell me wild stories about steam trains and playing card games when he was a prisoner of war. He also refused to eat potatoes because of the Ruskies.

          • Actually,  my grandpa looked after the prisoners of war. He was very kind to the German soldiers and would give them extras when he wasn't required to, and help them with whatever they needed.

            • My Grand Pa (actually he was called Pop), took me to the races.....of course I loved that, nearly as much as watching Ken Thornett play for Parra.

Super's Grandad was right, Langlands went into the centres to accomodate Thornett at fullback, Les Johns was his understudy and no greater fullback has ever graced the game. That includes Churchill who was an original immortal.

Only a few on here could recount his greatness, Hector exploded out of the gates to let you know, I can also tell you that Sir Col and Sluggo also agreed. Mention Ken Thornett to Sluggy and he runs out of words.....not easy when you know as much about Rugby league as Sluggy did.

Special mention to Jarryd Hayne.....he probably had more natural ability than any footballer born, he was meant  to be a God but stuffed up his crucification and it was decided he could not be resurrected, no immortality there!

              • Yep Dave very fortunate to see the Mayor as the Great man was known . When read on here comments from our loyal supporters that Grand Dad told them about the players of that time i think stuff me i am getting on as you said my friend Sir Col and the twin Slug where a wealth of knowledge. Insaying that this generation will be able to tell their Grandkids of the players of this generation Hey and as we all say go Parra

                • Nice words Bobbie, when we get to heaven I hope they have those old seats from Cumberland Oval to sit on....splinters in your arse watching The Mayor was always exciting....LOL

                  • Ahh the old cumberland oval . I even remember when they had the dirt track bikes and midgets there . Best memory was us giving it to Rex Mossop when he was in that rickety old tower calling the game .All you could see was the smoke that was coming out of his pipe are the memorieshey Dave What i would also like to thank LB for going to the trouble of putting these blokes together . Well done

        • @Chiefy I told you about JAC and I am older enough to be your grandpa.....do people remember how many on here, never wanted him because of his "character".

  • Dad always told me the Thornett brothers were unbelievable so Ken for sure and Paul Taylor and of course Jarred

  • Time to get a job mate, you have too much time on your hands.

    • I do have a job, did all my work had time off during the day and had this made up last night and just uploaded it.

      All a bit of fun.
