12-team comp

I have been thinking about a 12-team comp. Most of you know Sydney a lot better than me so you might be able to tell me if I have gone wrong. Also don't lynch me for suggesting a Penrith/ Panthers merger. If you can see a fair way around that let me know. Anyway here are the 12 teams.

1, Auckland Warriors

2. Melbourne

3. Gold Coast

4. Brisbane

5. North Queensland

6. Newcastle

7.Canberra

8 Penrith/ Parra

9 Souths/ Easts

10 Wests

11 Canterbury/ St George

12 Northern Suburbs Sydney (including northern beaches) (new club)

  • may be instead of all the sydney teams we could just have 4. north, south east and west sydney plus canberra, new zealand, melbourne, bronco's, cowboys, titans, newcastle, and perth.

  • Sorry Bernie, not with you on this one it would totally destroy the face of the game overnight, and would simply not work.

    • It would not be overnight, Snake. I'm thinking of over the course of a decade. Our problem is we have two comps going at once, the remnants of the Sydney comp and the national league.I am quite happy with aiming towards a 20 team comp with teams playing each other once. But I do remember the Adelaide, Perth, Newcastle, Brisbane failures.

  • Your wasting your time putting any thought into such a small comp. The league don't want it, the tv stations don't want it and the majority of fans don't want it. The only way something like this would happen is if the current comp totally collapsed which it won't.
  • Expand the comp by 4 teams and play each team once. So in 2015 eels play raiders in Canberra then next year play as home game.
  • just leave thing the way they are

  • The NRL would lose money doing this. As has been said previously a lot of support for clubs would be lost and there's no way I could support any club that is affiliated with the Panthers in any way.
    • As I said, Ham it would mean developing a popular, televised reserve grade. That system would actually make more money for everyone - two televised events at the one venue.I think our second and third tier comps are under-developed resources. Just think of how many people on this site are eager for your and other people's info on these comps.

"Eli, these next two will help for sure. Then Round 19 v Penrith with Moses back and maybe Cleary rested from Origin we are a chance at home.
But if we lose to GC, we are in trouble. We beat Manly with no Moses and Lomax, Titans were due a win now…"
