I think it does big time. I think 10 minutes is extreme for a decision that might be a 50/50 binning.
I think the NRL should look into reducing it to 5 minutes.
Over time, I've seen too many games that the result was determined by a 10 minute binning.
High and dangerous and late tackles (especially on kickers) should also warrant a 5 minute binning.

On the flip side, using the sin bin encourages all teams to stop messing about in the ruck trying to slow opposition teams down. Some teams became masters at this, like the Storm.
I think the use of the bin has more upsides than down sides. The tricky thing to the use of the bin for 5 versus 10 mins is that if the difference turns on judging player intent, then referees cannot mind-read and the refs might court unnecessary controversitg. In effect, a standard 10 mins reduces referee discretion and punished for an offense no matter how it has arisen (deliberately or accidentally). We see with the video referee system that the scope for referee discretion has been curtailed, so the most likely response to worries that 10 mins is excessive and 5 mins might have been better will be referees getting stricter on players walking off the mark (or getting stricter on what counts as players walking off the mark).
In the Moses case, Moses was a bit unlucky as the Riff player advanced the mark and Moses got caught up in the play the ball trying to get to marker. But Moses could have backed away when he realized he could not make marker, so we see the refs point. Based on that case, will refs police walking off the mark more so that when a player does infringe in the ruck in try scoring positions a professional foul is “clearer”?
Didn't help us in the final against Melbourne last year.
But I'm all for it. It was happening too much (especially by Melbourne) and there needs to be a strong deterrent. It could cost you the game - good.
Whether or not they got the Moses one right is no reason to abandon the war. I wasn't too shocked by the Moses decision. As long as they're consistent.
It did not happen on Sunday was that because it was in the attacking 20 or because Moses loitered in the ruck
Early in the game Moses was hit with a late tackle that was also a bit high. A penalty was awarded to the Eels, Moses was lost to the head bin for 25 minutes, Eels were rudderless for 25 minutes no sin bin for aggressor
Was Moses iindescretion in the ruck that much worse than the late tackle that it justified 10 in the bin. It put the game out of reasch for the Eels
The main issue is really consistency. Some players especially the protected species get away with obvious ‘sin binning’ whereas other players get sent for minor infractions. Mitch Moses was clearly hit late and dangerous against the Panthers and the player was even put on report but was only penalised and Mitch Moses missed 15 minutes of the game due to that infringement. That player should have been sin binned for at least 10 minutes if not more. Then Mitch Moses gets sin binned for basically a minor infringment. The whole issue can change momentum and results.
This is what I'm talking about.
With a 5 min binning, even if the ref is harsh or wrong on his decision, it won't be detrimental to the team suffering.
I've seen many a time, tight games then a 10 min binning comes along and the team losing a man, conceeding 2-3 tries in that time to lose easily at the end.
Another proposal with the 5 minute binning would be the team receiving the penalty, to take a 2 point penalty goal and then be given the ball back from where the penalty was awarded for a set of 6.
I think it’s agood idea Parra Fan! I think another idea would be to put the player who causes a HIA on a player to also go off for the 15 minutes too! As this would even up the sides.
Possibly, would have to check if the hit was on purpose or just one of those things.
Vido ref live on : "I see John Hopoate inserting his index and middle finger in the opposition player's anus. God, what if he hasn't wiped properly? Did you think of that, John? Now go wash your hands. I have a decision and going to the board".
Por que no los dos?
5 mins
Holding player down at tryline, professional foul, repeat penalties, late hit on kicker, minor head shot, constant backchat/your name is Cameron Smith
10 mins
Extreme high shot, punching, gouging, biting, hoppa fingering etc
It used to be 5 and 10 minute bins what happend to lose the 5?
Help because from 1989-95 with the onset of the internet and living in Greece I missed a lot of rule changes.
