who is worse, webster or kent

I'm sure they'd love hayne to put himself in contempt by telling us all exactly what he feels....idiot

  • Webster by a long stretch, ive been saying it about this grub for a long time,a whinging cat, needs to be knocked out, his head and lisp annoys me, hes got NFI about the game, looks like hes been sucking on a lemon 24/7, if him and jason taylor had a baby id hate to see the ghastly sight.

At least Kent played the game and had a go.

  • All journalists have their detrimental side but in relation to the Eels these two clowns are as bad as each other.

  • Webster for sure at least Kent is upfront and usually correct
  • What I don't get is why he writes crap like that in the Sydney paper then follows it up with a decent review of haynes 1st training in the Brisbane paper.  https://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/sport/nfl/why-jarryd-hayne-told-br...

    • Muzza, what Webster wrote is nothing compared to Kents efforts.  If you line up the two articles from Webster, they are basically the same but the Brisbane article.

Personally I see the article as not being that bad given the events of the day, the following few paragraphs from Webster towards the end of the article shows fairness and I did not see a lot of judgementalism from him in the overall article really.

Players do face all sorts of adversity — Hayne's endured plenty, some of it of his own doing — but a high-profile civil lawsuit that could see him return to the US should it go to trial is something different altogether.

Will the allegation be a distraction for him?

"Being in this environment around us and his teammates, and he's busy, that will be the key," Arthur said. "There will be times when he's on his own and he might struggle with it. But our players have become quite tight away from our training base now. He's got a lot of friends here like Tim Mannah, Michael Jennings ...  that he cares about and they care about him."

Another question about the case prompted Hayne to chuckle. "Football!" he pleaded. A football question was forthcoming and suddenly the media scrum halved, most of them no longer interested.

When Hayne trained before the cameras earlier in the morning, he struggled in running drills, plodding away at the back of the pack. That's the Hayne Plane we all know and love: it was no different when he was here as their bona fide superstar. Their only superstar.

What the cameras didn't capture was that it was one of four sessions for the day, including extras on a bike before he fronted the press.

"The lungs were alright but it was more the legs," Hayne said. "I've got a big 11 weeks before the season starts."

    • Exactly Muzza...there have been many times I’ve looked up the NZ press for eels or footy related related stories and found out little bits that no hopeless nsw nrl gossip writers have mentioned.

like I’ve said before the shitty nrl media are probs half the reason the nrl had to spend a whopping $110M on game promotion not so long ago

    • I think that's the best piece thats been written on Hayne since has been back. Personally I think Andrew Webster is a very good journalist.

  • These pricks aren't going to let up.

What more is there to say? He's already issued a statement saying he denies the allegation and says he will respect the process.

Problem for Webster is that most league people don't believe it - even non-Parra people see it for what it is. But he so wants to stick it to Hayne, it pops off the page!

  • If I was having a bet at a swy game? I'd probably back heads. So Webster would be good at that, so Webster wins? maybe not. Webster would also be quite prone to tails too, wouldn't he? Who knows, the other bloke is nark so I'd have to pick Kent even though he played the game I don't know if he played swy. It's a toss up, come in spinner!

  • The press conference showed first hand what these arseholes are like. It don't matter, how many times you ask them not to ask questions on a matter, or explain to the reason why you can't speak about it they still hound you, the media in Australia & more particular NSW are truly a disgrace.
