Time To Stand Strong - Commit to Vote

This wonderful club of ours stands on the cusp of returning to greatness. We have a coach capable of creating a dynasty of success that will inspire future generations of Parramatta players and supporters. We look throughout the football staff and we see quality people leading their departments - Brad Arthur, Daniel Anderson, Scott Seward. We have the nucleus of a football squad that will bring pride back to the blue and gold jersey. There can be no doubt that the football aspect of the organisation is in great hands. As members we have a voice. The club has created the Members Council. We have fantastic people like Larissa Paegle and her staff joining our site to keep fans up to date.At the corporate end of town we have the Premiership Club with the type of support that ensures that the continued attractiveness of our club for players is not solely based on the size of their NRL contracts. However, these potentially great times are reliant on more than just the football staff. Enduring success will be dependent upon a strong and supported board and administration. Our current board, the one headed by the man who has been responsible for the appointment of key personnel that are turning our club around, Steve Sharp, are under attack. We are only seeing the tip of the iceberg leading up to the elections. The tactics of using media friends, past greats and emotional rhetoric will be played out to many supporters who are not abreast of the truths. Our greatest threat may yet come from adopting the "she'll be right mate" philosophy. Every Parramatta fan eligible to vote must vote at the upcoming elections. We cannot afford to jeopardise how promising the future of our club can be.I'm making the commitment to vote and I hope you'll join me in ensuring that our club Is only placed in the hands of people who put the club's best interests at the very top of their list of priorities.UPDATE 29th MARCH 2015Important update. After the Souths game I had the privilege of talking to a couple of high quality people associated with our club. We were discussing matters relating to fan feedback about the team. I raised the topic about the upcoming elections. After talking with these gentlemen I was left in no doubt about the following:1. Our current board and administration are committed to the future success of our club. They put the club first. They were giving me their time to talk about fan matters and it was only my questioning that prompted any talk about the elections.2. The challenges that will be either fronted or backed by previous board members are real. There are people who won't dont want the club to have this much needed period of stability. To any fellow members, if you want our great club to continue towards achieving its undoubtedly great future, you must commit to vote. You must not, you cannot, take for granted that our current board will be returned. If you have any doubt about the influence that will be exerted by past board members, look at the untruths sprouted in the media in recent weeks. We can be a big part of determining the bright future of our club by committing to vote.

  • Thanks Nonna. Who else is voting?
  • Hi Sixties, do you have to be present to vote or can you do proxy vote?

    • Unless someone here can advise on that, I'd check with the club.
    • You have to be present to vote, hopefully in the future proxy voting will be allowed.

    • Registered Clubs Act does not permit proxy votes .

  • I'd just like to add that I'm not a political animal. I never have been. However, one thing that I've always tried to do is to avail myself of the facts before I vote. I am concerned about the "truths" being written about in the media at the moment.
  • Nice piece, Sixties. I think we are solidly moving in the right direction as well.

Pretty basic question. I am a footy club member, not a leagues club member. So I cannot vote, right ?

    • That would be my understanding. They are two different identities. I'm hoping Phil can add to this.
  • will this vote impact on the leadership spill motion on Monday?

    • Now that's something we can't control.

Parra fan on The Hill replied to Roy tannous's discussion Eels offering Jordan samrani
"I really like Samrani but if JR decides to give him up for MB I think that is a massive mistake.
IMO Samrani should be 1st drop for either centre/ wing if one of our starters is out. Brian Kelly is bog average and not going to get better.
