Missing Keving Kingston

Yesterday showed me that we really missed Keving Kingston and his agression.

I think in that 45-65 minute mark where the game was really in the balance, his presence and mongrel might have got us over the line.

Im not a fan of turning halfbacks/5/8's into hookers (thats not to say they wont do a good job)

while robbo and kk have the potential to do ok in that fill in hooker role, i think we need need better than just "ok"

I don't think anybody in the Eels team last year had his aggression, mongrel and enthusiasm. We saw laast year how well the team played once Kingston came on.

My prediction is he will be the buy of the year for Penrith.

That being said, i thought it was a solid performance from the eels yesterday. We have a track record of usually getting pumped in round 1 games so yesterday a positive.

  • You have a point but losing Kingston gives us Tahu and Poore which will more than compensate. KK came on and played 7..... as an interchange playher this would be very difficult to achieve. He should have been at 9... at the very least move KK to 6 and play morts at 9 while MK has a spell
  • he would have stayed for $50 - $75k...
  • I think Kingston will be sorely missed this season .... he was one of our sparks last year .... Hope he has a good season with the panthers ..... except when he plays us ....lol
  • Really missed him... There's not much we can do though.
  • I really think that Anthony Mitchell needs a shot at the hooker position. He has showed in U'20's and a bit for Wenty how he can really carve up lazy and tired forwards and is extremely creative.
  • I agree, we missed Kingston big time.
In my opinion he is a far superior hooker to Matt Keating.

Oh, and that kick by Keating with 90 seconds to go completely defied comprehension.
That was not the play you would expect from a first grade player... very disappointing indeed.

Apart from that I was quite pleased with the team performance.
  • I agree....on all counts. Was gutted when we lost Kingston...he'll be carving us up the middle in not too long :)
  • Just watched the panthers game ..... kingston had a blinder ... :(
  • i hate to say i told you so, but 'i told you so'!
he was our super sub last year!
  • I watched panthers game as well. WOW Kingston was wonderful, we could have done with him the other night. His class and ball work got panthers points.
