In the DT today about Cronk

THE Parramatta Eels are chasing Australian and Melbourne halfback Cooper Cronk.

The Daily Telegraph can reveal that Parramatta management has told Cronk's manager Chris Orr that the club is interested in signing him if forced to leave Melbourne.

New Super rugby union franchise the Melbourne Rebels are also interested but claim they have not made a formal approach.

Melbourne could be as much as $1.5 million over their salary cap and Cronk is the player most feel will be pushed elsewhere.

With Kris Keating signing for Canterbury, Parramatta see Cronk, 26, as someone who can lead them to grand final glory.

Cronk was a Kangaroo earlier this year for the Test against New Zealand. He has also played off the bench for Queensland in this season's State of Origin series.

  • I hope so. Only 26, many good seasons in him, has Grand Final experience as well. Great Kicking game, classy passing game and knows what to do on the 5th tackle.... mmmmm tough choice???
  • good i cant wait to finally have someone who knows what to do on 5th tackle
  • Well at least it's not Finch - he will be signing with the Tigers this week or next....!!!
  • I love how The Daily Telegraph "can reveal" such old news
  • Stop dreaming people we won't get Cronk, would love to have him here but don't think it will happen for various reasons.
  • according to phil rothfield we cant afford cronk. but who knows
    • I wouldn't take Rothfield's opinions or comments as anything substantial. The guy backflips on most comments and statements his makes. Look at what he said about Anderson mid year last season.
    • don't worry about Rothfield. If we went on a run from this week he would ride on parra's coat tails all the way. As for his scoops he gets most of them off this site.
  • yeah you all make very good points i do remember last year he wanted da sacked and kearney in charge at parra. he ended up with egg on his face. shouldnt the daily tele credit this website with there so called scoops. one eyed eel rocks!
