I would have thought that Eric himself was a good place to get that sort of information from and in last weeks blog on Eels site he stated several times that if we make the finals he would be back to play with the team but maybe things have taken a turn for the worse with his knee, sad if true.
I still think he was one of the best performers last year in the Grand Final, great player!, all the best Eric, and if you are reading this Eric Jnr, I still remember meeting your old man back in 1984-5 during work experience as a chef.... in a nursing home, lol....yes i know its hilarious, but Eric Snr came in to see an old lady who's bed was covered in Parra coloured quits and all sorts of memorabilia. She passed the next day and I always admired him coming in to say hi to her before she passed away, made her smile more than anyone I've ever seen.
It quotes his manager Andrew Purcell as saying (in regards to playing next year):
"He won't make it back, but we're still hoping for something. He is very, very frustrated because he can't show his worth on the football field. He's take a piece out at the back of his right kneecap. There is a bit of interest floating around but it's the 'mix talk' - as in, 'he's in the mix' Hopefully something will come up."
Really disappointing if true. I really hope we can re-sign him considering we are losing Inu, Mateo, Cayless and K. Keating and haven't signed anyone else.
It's a bit strange because on the official Eels site it says this in the injury update Eric Grothe has an ongoing knee injury and he also hopes to return before the end of the season. He is currently in the rehabilitation group working on running.
"Well I can't help it if you're much smarter than I can I? I mean your a Professor after all and I'm just the average peasant from the lower ranks. Suppose you never need Google not even Google maps 😳"
" a Grade 5 AC joint injury is significantly more severe and carries a much higher risk of immediate, game-worsening complications and long-term issues than a Grade 1 hamstring strain.
