Some Super family news

So I've been tossing up if I was going to post this but decided to given this is obviously taking up a lot of my free time.

A month ago my wife and I welcomed our first child into the world. He's a healthy baby boy who has brought much happiness and joy to our family.

Like his dad, grandfather and great grandfather he's an Eels fan and I'd imagine one of the first, fourth generation supporters.

We're hoping to introduce him to Parramatta stadium next year, but for now he's joining me on the lounge for Eels games.

The team has also gone undefeated since he was born, so hopefully he's a good luck charm for the boys.

I'll also take this time to let you know that my grandfather passed away two weeks before my son was born. As many of you would know, he was the reason my family are Eels supporters and he supported the club from 1956 onwards.

He specifically requested that blue and gold be worn at his funeral and his treasured Eels jersey was front and centre at the service. The last game he personally attended was the opening of the new stadium and even when he was in hospital, he was scheduling the Parramatta matches in his phone so he didn't miss watching them.

  • Sad to hear Super, especially considering your grandfather just missed the birth of his great grandson. I'm sure he is looking after you and your son.

    • Thanks mate. He still met the little guy. Our obstetrician let us video call him during appointments and she'd talk him through what he was looking at on the ultrasound.

  • Condolences and congratulations Supe. I'm sure you have a million great memories of your Grandfather and your brand new young fella will provide you with a million more.

    I bet you're bursting with pride :)

  • Congrats super! Father hood is the greatest.

Rip gramps, I am sure he is looking down below

  • Congrats on the newborn Super, and sorry to hear about your grandfather.

I tell you there is nothing better than brainwashing your kids into being Eels supporters. I've got two boys, and my wife is a Roosters supporter, and she tried to push that onto them when they were younger but failed miserably. The boys, now 11 and 9, sit in front of the TV and abuse the refs and cheer for the team and it's magic. It's like looking in a mirror!

  • Congrats on the newborn Super! Having kids certainly changes the priorities of life in rather a hurry.

Very sad news about your pop, I'm also at the age where even our healthiest of grandparents is starting to pass away - it's a sad generational shift but it does give us time to reflect and remember the legacy they've left us and how they've helped shape us into who we are.

Enjoy all the trials and tribulations that fatherhood brings. It's now your turn to instill that Eels spirit into your son.

  • Congrats on your baby boy, Super. You can look forward to many sleepness nights! It's all worth it though speaking from the experience of having 2 girls.

Sad to hear of your grandads passing. I'm sure he gave you plenty of good life advice for you to pass on to your kids one day. RIP Granpa.

I'm sure it's a very emotional time for you with mixed feelings of happiness and sorrow. I'm sure you've shed a few tears but that's all right. Real men cry.

  • Congrats Super.  I have two fourth generation Parra Supporter grandsons, both who love the new stadium. (poor little bastards)

Circle of Life has its ups and downs.  My ex wife was a massive Parra fan (one thing we had in common) and she passed away 6 weeks before the birth of the first grandson.  Timing sucks sometimes.

  • I got a cuddle with Super Jnr today and he threw up...

    • See what happens when he mixes with you bloody Spurs supporters Phil
