Sharks CEO Barry Russell Quits

Barry Russell anyone? Apparently he’s quit the Sharks as CEO after ensuring their premiership winning coach is deregistered and their cap has been reduced by $750k. That Gurr blokes not so bad!

The spin he’s putting on this is he’s gotten the sharks through the tough stuff, now they’re in the clear with new supercoach John Morris .. so he’s off to bigger and better things.

When you think about it, it’s actually a tough position he found himself in. Continue to cover up the lie and posibly get found out ruining his career, or expose it and wear the wrath of the fans and club.

What would you want do in similiar circumstances?

  • He really had no choise as a CEO, either come clean or face anything including criminal charges when it all eventually comes to light. As Eels fans we know what it's like to have a board that cheated & lied. What did it get us, certainly not sucess.  As far as I'm concerned it's the NRL that really need to make changes at the top. We've heard it over & over, It All Starts at the Top & with the NRL in such a dire state at the moment, the finger needs to be pointed straight at the games leaders. I don't believe the current NRL cheifs have what it takes to make the hard calls. At least Barry Russell did.

    • Spot on Jim, no doubt the NRL leadership needs to step up. they avoid tackling any of the hard issues. Given the current cap model isn’t working, surely its time for a change.

  • Greenturd & his counterparts were all very vocal about it all starts at the top, when they were tearing the soul out of the Eels in 2016. This being the case it's time for the NRL to replace it leaders because the game is in a mess & none of the clubs give a crap what the NRL commission say. They treat them with the contempt they deserve.

Wishart on the other hand would be better suited to the Eels halves.
