Those of you who are waking to the news, theres been a terrible explosion in Beirut overnight, happened about an hour ago.

Theres a lot of footage of it, im sure you'll see it, it was truely terrible to see, thoughts go out to our Lebanese brothers and sisters, especially the ones still trapped under rubble, wounded, deceased and their families and friends.

The Lebanese PM has declared a national disaster emergency, local hospitals are overflowing and stating they cant take any more casualties.

The only thing i can liken it to is a smaller scale Nagasaki or Heroshima,  i just noted the Lebanese PM is likening it to that too, truely unbelievable explosion.

Its vaporised everything in its 1-2km close radius and destroyed many things for what looks about 5km radius,  at present its unknown how it started, but its come from an area where a explosives factory or storage is in the main port, much speculation is happening online about what exactly was in there, rumours spread that there was military stuff in there, no doubt it will all come out in the wash..

Also speculation it was a terrorist bomb, nothing is certain yet.

I like to rib the Lebanese with some light hearted sledging at times, but in times like this im sending thoughts and best wishes over there.

All the power to Lebanon today and over the coming months.

  • Shocking. Thoughts and prayers with Lebanese community. Reports are of as few as 26 dead but you would have to think number is a lot more considering neighbouring apartment buildings copped a significant blast.

strange incident looking at explosion itself you would think worst and that some lunatic has let off a low yield thermonuclear device. But there was some kind of fire beforehand so may not be that.

  • I see the Lebanese prime minister is saying it was a massive stockpile of ammonium nitrate there for 10 years! If that's true it's incredible negligence but it doesn't sound plausible to me. What's more likely is that they were trying to move the stuff somewhere offshore  and either Mossad has become involved or some accident has happened.

  • Thoughts go out to everyone involved.

They are saying 2,750 tonnes of ammonium nitrate is the source of this, and had been stored there for over 6 years. It it is true, hard to believe this can be allowed to happen after the exact same thing happened in Tinjin in 2005.

  • It was a TCM tactical cruise missle.

  • Rumours are that those in the know in Lebanon (such as Aoun) are blaming Hezbollah for this

  • Good to see you have a heart.

Introducing laws (rule changes) for the sake of it. The reason they change so often is because the stuffed it up in the first instance. Fuck.....leave the game as it was please, it's not broken."

"Captain this is an interesting one. Will teams forced to kick off after scoring start to kick short more often? From memory the short drop outs are close to 50/50 now."

"Also, not a big issue just awkward if you name a debutant on the bench but there is a chance they might not get on the field if there is an injury in a spot like backline.
Like imagine that hahah, here you go mate you might debut off the bench."

If fresh, will clubs now need more halves etc? Can't see many just in case halves playing much if they are just bench warmers. Still a few questions to be had I think."
