Bathurst

Who is looking forward to the big race?

I followed the touring cars as a kid and was a Dick Johnson tragic, but I lost interest when he retired and all the cars started looking the same. Drivers were swapping teams between Holden and Ford and I didn’t follow it for decades.

When Dick Johnson joined with Penske, I found myself sucked right back in again and I am to the point now that I love it.

So, grab ya Winny Reds, a stezza with some Acca Dacca on it, ya favourite flanny and GO SCOTTY McLACHLAN!!!

  • I still watch it. But don't really have the interest like I used to. As you say, all the cars are the same now and it used to be a lot more chaotic when it wasn't part of the championship as you had privateers in all sorts of cars lining up for that one race against the pro teams.

Plus, I was a Peter Brock fan for so long, followed him from the HDT days, then in his various Mobil 1 Racing cars (Commodore, BMW, Sierra then back to a Commodore, then I started follwing HRT when he joined them in 1993. When HRT folded and merged with Triple 8 Racing, I lost interest in that team and started following David Reynolds, mainly because of his stunner of a missus.

    • Yes, Ms Reynolds is quite the catch for Dave.

I am enjoying watching the Mustangs succeed and they are very different looking to the Holdens.

Man they look awesome and I hope that we see a couple of Mustang drivers on the podium.

Chaz Mostert is smashing it this year and may be a smokey.

      • Mostert Looks the goods at the moment

              • Bathurst never fails to deliver. And no refereeing controversy. I was on Reynolds all day, and until that last safety car, he was right there. Always love watching Bathurst no matter who wins

  • Scott McLachlan's win is tarnished in my eye's, the tactics emplyoed by team Shell to blatantly hold back the field with their 2nd car during a safety car period robbed Van Gisbergen the opportunity to be in the lead for the final few laps.  He had a 10 secong fuel advantage which means he would have come out in the lead after the final pit stop.

"This is how much the NRL looks after the "glamour" clubs. Shibasaki, current SOO and Australian rep, is on a miserly $140k this year. How does the NRL accept this."
