Whom are you / do you Vote for in this upcoming election.

Are we smart enough as a nation to move forward or repeat the same mistakes again and again.
I'm as yet undecided

But I for one can never vote for dopes who regularly give away Billions and Millions of dollars regularly.

Break all the rules governing them.
Regurgitate the same lies over over..

And expect that enough people are that iggnorant and apathetic to do anything about it.

That's the Libs.

Please vote for anyone but them.

I as yet haven't decided.  Yet to see whom deserves my vote.

Have you ?

  • The Liberals aren't that bad.  My major criticism of them is that they pick the economy and finance over, and to the detriment of, doing the right  or socially responsible thing.  On the other hand Labor could be accused of doing the reverse ie pick the right or socially responsible thing over the economy and financially responsbile thing.

Most importantly, first and foremost you need a good economy and solid financials so I can see the Liberal's logic but it is a widely held but mostly false belief that Labor run the economy into the ground and it is ONLY the libs that can be trusted with money.

    A few examples:

The libs, if allowed, would never have had a Royal Commission into the banks.  They knew such an inquiry would tighten lending, decrease house prices and slow the economy. Can you imagine if "tighten lending, decrease house prices and slow the economy" had happened under labor? (uncle Rupert's papers would have made it front page on every issue).

The libs want to privatise and commercialise the ABC (it is official Lib policy), in part they want to privatise it to stop what they see as left wing biasis and hope it will become pro lib like News corp and uncle Rupert.  The ABC is a national asset and a balanced TV broadcaster.  No matter which party is in power they hate the ABC.

The only Royal Commission the libs enthusiastically called was the one into unions and that was aimed at getting Shorten and Gillard.  Does anyone remember the results of that RC? Only a few low level union officials were charged.

The libs have consistently and historically hated medicare.  Initially they claimed it was the socialism at its worst and tried to stop it.  Thenn they disposed of it and made it Medibank but labor brought Medicre back.  More recently the libs have attempted to dismantle it slowly by bringing in co-payments and outsourcing some of its functions.

    • The best I’ve seen and heard.it was last election standing in line.and this dumb woman turned to her Husband and said who do we vote for again. He replied labor and make sure do and said o I hope I don’t muck it up .every body around just rolled our eyes

    • Like question time. Only with utensils

  • Well if you want the Govt to take a gigantic huge percentage of your family's inheritance the vote Labour. If you want schools allowed to promote and teach transgender, same sex marriage, gender change operations and everything related to it then vote Labour. If you want illegal immigrants to land on our shore in the thousands then vote Labour, on the other hand you could just use some common sense and vote Liberal. Your call!

    • Oh please. You believe the properganda .

Give us one once of proof.

    • Montio, sorry to put some facts to your story. In 2015-2016 under your liberal party Australia excepted 17,555 refugees with a pledge to increase the number to accommodate the issues in Syria.

What you need to understand is we are part of a global economic and political structure. We have made a commitment to the UN as all developed countries have to accept refugees.

Also my children are being taught all the bullshit know in public schools.

the true facts are the libs govern for the Rich labour the common person.

      • Class warfare at its finest there Brad

        • Brett, it’s really that simple!!  We can not govern our country in isolation to world politics., Any one that thinks we can is delusional. The variation between the libs and labor had never been smaller. I vote labor based on the fact I like to live in a society where the gap between the haves and have nots don’t mean the difference between life and death.  For example a free medical system and not a version of the USA user pay or die system.

        • Was just throwing out bait popsicle, hoping for a bite. Re: Japanese invasion it's not my contention that they were not going to invade, pretty much accepted fact now amongst historians based  on Japanese internal discussions from the time.

I was raised in a Christian family in a small country town by parents who are members of the national party and best friends with the local nationals member. I think capitalism is the least worst economic system, and western institutions like democracy and the rule of law are mankinds greatest social achievements.

But I've also studied History and Science both formally and from self interest  and traveled and the conclusions I've drawn from these experiences , yer I land left on MOST issues.

Buuutttt I support hunting of pest species, think " Safe spaces" are pretty lame, think kids should learn to lose, and that political correctness shouldn't trump freedom of speech or expression, even if it's opinion others may find offensive or troubling. So perhaps I'm Crimson not red?  ( Definitely not Maroon ) :)

I'm enjoying the back and forth with you guys, good quick mental exercise in lifes downtimes between obligations and pleasures.
