Ladies and Gentlemen,
This site has never been the most endearing to the club or even parts of our own fanbase. A common piece of feedback I receive privately is that some find it too negative or drama-filled, which is why many choose to stay away. At times we clash hard and put each other down, the club, the players, and even Super, who pays for this site out of his own pocket. Some of this could understandably offend players’ families. In conversations I’ve had with people within the club’s hierarchy, the club takes a fairly open-minded view and accepts that it can’t control what others say or think. That’s a mature approach.
That said, I believe the majority of us are good eggs, mean well, even if some are rough around the edges and a small minority hold more extreme views. Over the past decade, I’ve met many wonderful people through this site, some of whom I now count as close friends and have learned a great deal from. You’re a big reason I’m still here and why I care about this community.
If you’re willing, I’d appreciate your thoughts on the direction the site should take. Ultimately, Super will decide, but it’s helpful to understand how people feel, here or privately, on:
- Current affairs and political blogs: Even if personally enjoy them, these often become the most feral and attract extremist views, especially in challenging times. They can flood the site and turn off many who simply want to talk footy, the one thing we all share. Life has enough dramas.
- Moving these blogs to The Cave: Making them members-only may be a win-win, it allows discussions without overwhelming those who’d want to avoid it.
- Any other ideas for improving the site.
Please don’t comment on political, religious or current affairs issues in this blog. This is about improving the site, not saving the world from an apocalypse.

I am not on the "Hook" You seem to be asking all the questions of late......Do you mind telling me why I am "on the Hook"
I have read your comments and you keep repeating the same questions, my guess is your posts are contributory to angst and offer no resolution or reasonable discussion that has not already been had.
PS. there is not a person on this site I have not had a blew with, so don't try and put me on your list. Not only am I not on the hook....I have no interest in biting.
Clear headings
Simple question, is it a parra footy site,? Whilst I realise it's orf season, this thread has rambled thru our feelings on the atrocities, now how we see the future of site going. People can join the raucous throng on political , feel good, or which ever site their biased opinions like. Can we stick to parra, and our love of footy please?
Yeah as a few have said, the political blogs should have it's own place. Not against them as freedom of speech but when i look at the comment section i expect NRL or Eels talk.
I also wish for this to be a site to talk footy as a whole not just Parramatta. Like discuss events that happen with other teams. Other things that i dislike about the site cannot be fixed so i just deal with it.
Totally agree LB, we are here on a site called " 1 eyed eel", not Marxist, left, right or centered factions or political diatribe, footy is in our blood, and whilst stimulating, opinions or comments or polite baiting is a nice side note. Let's stick to rugby league
Agree
This is an Eels site, but it's also a community bound by the common thread of being Eels supporters.
I don't care if there's some non Eels related posts. It's good for communities to talk about things, to gauge opinions, to learn others opinions and expand their points of view.
Sometimes the topics will be politics, or religion, or social issues that are divisive. I have no issues with that - it's way better that people talk about this stuff.
Where I draw the line is respect. We are a community, we should respect each other and that includes when we disagree. If people can disagree respectfully, it's all good. As soon as someone is straight up insulting or disrespectful of others in the community, there should be consequences. A light ribbing or playful fun is fine, but when it turns nasty that's a big no from me.
Otherwise, as long as it's legal and respectful communication... We should let the community express themselves. We all have good and bad opinions and ideas, there's no harm in sharing them around, and if they're bad then sunlight is the best disinfectant.
Agree
i like the site as it is
I don't agree with bum licking the club like other sites and that sets up apart for being honest and upfront regarding the players .
im ok with the robust debate - I used to get involved when racist or mysogenistic comments were said and then I just went - nope , I'm on a footy site and mb a large majority of ppl on here have no critical thinking skills .... so why am I turning myself in knots , and I don't partake anymore .
But for those who wish to get into it - go right ahead I say
I read often have have done so for years but very very very rarely comments. Usually you get attacked for commenting so it's pointless.
I don't come
here for politics and things and I don't care about anyone here's opinion on such things. I come for eels footy only (not other clubs).
most of the blogs and comments are trash to be honest but a few good ones exist.
ill prob be attacked for even posting this.
