Younger Generation For NSW

Ricky Stuart seems hell bent on making sure he has 1 of the most inexperienced Origin teams in history. This team has played less than 50 Origin games in total. To put this in to perspective Lockyer and Civinoceva combined have played more games than the entire NSW team. WAKE UP Ricky, it doesn't matter how old the player is, if they're good enough they deserve to be there. Look at QLD Civinoceva and Lockyer are both in their 30s and they are still the first 2 picked in every team they play for. Did Sticky forget about Hindy? Hindy is the best tackler in the game and is the best defender in the game, Andrew Johns has said it, Ray Warren has said it, the list could go on Hindy should've been picked. To win Origin you need a good mix of Youth and Experience. Qld is the perfect example. The youngest player in QLD is Jharal Yow Yeh (22) and the oldest is Civinoceva at age 35. Whereas for NSW the youngest is Josh Dugan (21) and the oldest is Gallen at age 30. Gallen is the only 30 year old in the squad whereas QLD has a number of players in their 30s. In my mind IF YOU'RE GOOD ENOUGH YOU SHOULD BE PICKED. Age should have no factor.

  • Agreed however who r u referring to?
  • So do you think that Dugan was only picked because he's younger than Hayne?
    LOL

This team has nothing to do with age, it just so happens to be that Ricky didnt consider Hayne to play the style he wants NSW to play. That has nothing to do with age.

  • who mentioned hayne? The premise of the blog is not to overlook rxperience in all out quest for youth
  • Cmon, its pretty obvious who he's talking about/
  • I never mentioned Hayne and age in the same sentence. My point is, that from the looks of it and, in fact Ricky said it himself, he's looking for longevity in the players he picks. Fair enough if he is trying to build the team for years to come but you still need players with a fair bit of experience to play in Origin. Those experienced players are the ones the younger players look to when the game is close and the team needs to stay composed. Yes I would've preferred Hayne at FB but which Parra supporter doesn't? But what I am saying is that experience should not be overlooked just because you are trying to build for the future.
