Hindsight is a wonderful thing. It's now close to 2 years ago that we learned that the great man Steve Sharp along with Seward botched the Foran deal that he made with us and that we were scrambling to try and fix the contract. I remember how everyone on this site was massively freaking out because Foran was the half and leader we needed after losing Hayne to the NFL and that we'd be f***** without him. Phil was jumping up and down because he had never enjoyed so much traffic on his site, while Fongy was the only one who was saying that Foran wasn't worth pursuing. It was an intense and crazy couple of weeks while the media absolutely hammered us.

After all that's happened over the last 2 years Foran has signed with the Dogs and we end up with Mitchell Moses. In the end do you think we're better off with a Norman/Moses combo or would you have preferred to see Foran forge a successful career here alongside Corey? I know there is a lot of resentment toward Foran and rightly so but do any of you wonder what could have been? Or are you happy that we've secured Moses, especially now after Norman has established himself as a top shelf halfback? In fact I think that Norman has proven to be the critical player in this whole saga.

When BA signed Foran I think that not even he could have anticipated the evolution and development that Norman would go through. Norman, unexpected by us and by BA, has become the player that Foran was meant to be. He provides us with leadership, confidence, direction, and playmaking ability. He's still a bit immature off the field and that may prove to be his downfall but his growth as a player is undeniable. This whole event is still reliant on Moses proving himself as a worthy halves partner, but in the end I think we're pretty well off after this remarkable run of player transfers.

  • The Foran and Norman combo was the combo that would have gotten us to being the dominant powerhouse that we dream of being. Halves combinations like that prove to only come by once maybe twice in a life time. No parramatta fan over 30 will ever witness 2 superstar halves in the blue and gold ever again before they die. And if they do, they will be on their death beds.

Foran didnt work out due to issues but as you said, "what if he didnt have those issies and they went on to forge a successful partnership?" Which they would have had Foran gotten over his dramas.

There was once a very wise person on this forum who before he got booted who said "When Foran makes the dogs a success, dont go blaming Foran for him not coming back to Parra. The fans made it very clear they didnt want him back ajd that noise filtered through to the club and made it easier for the decision makers not to entertain the the gamble of persuing Foran for a second chance in the blue & gold"
    • Norman can party, get into trouble, then be punished, but still keep it all together.
    • The problem is having 2 really good halves means not much money to spend on the rest of the team unless your over the cap. Most good teams have 1 really good half and an alright half to Go with him. They spend there money on hooker, fullback, centre and a good backrow with a few decent forwards. Look at sharks. If Maloney got injured would Townsend win em a premiership? Or if Cronk got injured? Look at the dogs next year they have for an but who partners him? I'd say the young halfback not mbye.
  • There were actually a few who were flagging Forans medical history mate . But kewl story .
  • Never liked Foran, highly overrated and never wanted him at the Eels! So to say 'your were all freaking out' is absurd. I'm sure I'm not the only Eels fan that didn't want Foran in blue & gold.
  • Plaimwand simple, foran wasn't such a cum bag would of been one of parras best signings in history. Because he is it was the biggest waste of money. Moses will fill into this team alot better than what most expect and will hopefully be a long term team player. Enough with the foran blogs it's getting insane.
  • Agree Ewra, Corey has come of age in the last 18 months. I reckon the next 3 and a half years will be his best. Nearly everything about his game has improved since he arrived, to the extent he is now regarded as one of the elite halves. BA is god my eyes, similar to Bellamy, he just improves players!

  • I think the Foran/Norman combo would have had us a powerhouse for seasons to come. The few games they played together were some of the best Parr have played in a very long time. Just the direction from Foran in both attack and defence was a sight to see and Normy just got to run around and pop up where ever he liked.

Mosses is very young and very talented, can he and Normy combine well? I think they can but I am not sure they will ever be as good as what Foran and Normy could have been.

  • Much rather a young mouldable Moses, with Corey as his senior sideick, that a dominant Foran & a docile Normz. As I said, he has really stepped up lately!!

  • Ah the biggest what if in parra history along with tim smith.
