Yes We Can

Hello to my fellow 1 Eyed Eel brethren. We are upon the time when the members of the rugby league club at Parramatta cast their vote and decide who will sit on the the Rugby League Club Board. If there is anyone out there who still doubts that Parramatta is a place where all things are possible, who still wonders if the dream of our founders is alive in our time, who still questions the power of our club and our team, then the new candidates are your answer.

As we prepare for the elections ahead, we are faced by a club in crisis. A club that has fare welled two legends of the game. A club that has come last for the first time in 40 seasons. And a club unable to plug leaks.

However, it has begun to rise from the ashes. The signing of Ken Edwards as CEO and Ricky Stuart as Coach has pushed the club in the right direction. What I can say though is that the road ahead will be long. Our climb will be steep. We may not get there in one year, but I've never been more hopeful.

It is our duty as supporters and in particularly those who are eligible to vote, to do what we believe. What we think is important to the club. Let us remember that, if these last few months have shown us anything, it's that we cannot have a thriving team if we have a struggling Board.

In this great club, we rise or fall as one people. Let's resist the temptation to fall back into the same ways that got us here in the first place. There are values that we all share and I propose we put our differences aside to work for improving the future.

This is our time, to help raise our club from the ashes. When people meet us with cynicism and doubts and those who tell us we can't, we will respond with that timeless creed that sums up the spirit of a people: Yes, We Can.
