This blog is for those who have memories of the old Cumberland oval before it was burnt to the ground in 1981.
I'm currently writing an assignment on the redevelopment of the leagues club and ground. I'd greatly appreciate if anyone has pictures of the old ground or links/clippings to newspaper articles announcing that the ground had been burnt down. Please, nothing from Google as it has to be in-line with copyright law.

Best of luck with that - Kodak Brownie photos did not last all that long.
I will ask my mate - he used 35mm slides - if he has anything only too happy to pass them along - but don't hold your breath.
Used to have a photo of myself and a few mates at the "BBQ" but they are long gone.
My mate had/has a fence paling from Cumberland Oval and we did have one of the signs out of the Parking area but got no idea where they may have ended up.
Last I heard the sign was on a farm in Victoria but that mate moved and has since died.
* On 1Eyed Eel go to my pictures (slips pics), although there are currently over 1,400.
* Google Cumberland Oval pictures which will mostly be pictures I put on the internet which will lead you back to this site.
* Go to my website www.eels1976-1986.com. There is a section called home ground. Also in discussion I think there is a topic on Cumberland.
Or you could try the Old Cumberland press that use to print the local Advertiser. Used to be owned by News Corp but not sure who owns it now.
