Would you pay to get rid of Jennings to keep Hayne?

Firstly, it was criminal to sign M Jennings on what is essentially a 5 year contract. This is yet another horrendous deal negotiated by Seward and shows we are still paying for his mistakes long after he got kicked out. Even so, BA should never have green lit such a lengthy deal in the first place.

But moving forward, it seems that if we are going to keep Hayne then we need to offload at least one player. Jennings looks the most likely to agree to a move elsewhere but we have to subsidise his wage. Do you think we should pay a large amount of his salary? In my mind Jennings doesn't even have a spot in the team anymore so he would be playing reserves for the remaining 2 years. Meanwhile, I feel Hayne needs to be kept because we need his playmaking skills to offset the poor form of our halves. Besides, we don't have another fullback who could carry the team like Hayne can (I can't believe we've gone back to the bad old days so quickly). As much as I hate it, I think we've got no choice but to pay Jennings to leave. Hayne is far more valuable to us and we're in a desperate situation. Your thoughts?

  • Many of us agree Jarryd is needed, but you will be shouted down by the Jarryd haters here.

  • With Hayne it's take it or leave it, his age, durability, consistency and commitment are all questionable. If he stays then good, if not then so be it it doesn't bother me. Though when saying him or Jennings? I'd go with Hayne as I do believe he can win you 1 or 2 games, compared to Jennings

  • Absolutely M Jennings needs to go ASAP
  • If Jennings is on $750k as reported I’d say we’d have to dip in $250k to whoever he leeves to, leaving us $500k for Hayne plus the rumoured $100k we have left currently
    • if true , we are a real mess financially. Very few top shelf players and no funds.

  • YES  make it a BIG YES

  • I piss both of to get Napa and Taupau

  • How is it essentially a 5 year deal? He joined in 2016 and 2019 is his last year????
    • 2019 $800,000 -  2020.   $800,000 - Michael jennings
