Now that it appears highly likely that the Melbourne Storm are 1 step closer to perhaps winning back to back Premierships which hasn't been done since the Broncos in 1992-3. Would the Melbourne Storm be considered worthy holders of such a prestigious record given ALL the salary cap scandals, the well known favoritism displayed towards certain high profile players in their team by the NRL and the referees. And considering some of their on field dirty tactics including their wrestling techniques in the tackles and the chicken wing tackles just to name a couple. As much a they may be admired as a tough and resilient team. From my perspective they won't be considered worthy or held in high esteem IF they are fortunate enough to win back to back Premierships. I will always view them as the cheating grubs of Rugby League.

I actually thought the Rabbits might be in with a huge chance but after going down to the Storm by 1 point they might struggle to focus on the job.
Of course they would be worthy if they achieved the feat, but history tells us that it isn't an easy thing to achieve. The Broncos actually did it in 1997 & 1998, so it's not impossible, and if any team is gonna do it you would think it would be Melbourne. They are so well drilled.
They were comfortably the best team in either comp in 97. I have very little trouble in believing they would have won a unified competition. Nevertheless they could only win the competition they were in. They shouldn't be penalised for that.
We’ll never know obviously, so it is just matter of debate. But they are credited with a premiership.
Jack Gibson said it best, “1997, the year of the asterisk”
Who is on record as being premiers in 2009?
No one is credited with 07 or 09
We already have to put up with them saying they won 5 premierships and how they deny the club did anything wrong not withstanding the players and Craig Bellamy who say the same thing!.
Similar thoughts mate! I personally can't stand the Storm due to their cheating and getting away with it except for 2009 but their bragging and arrogance is more than annoying.
I hate the whole favoritism BS calls.
I have loved watching as many games as I can this season - I think I have developed into a Rugby League fan rather than a Parra fan given what a disappointing team the Eels are to follow.
It makes me sick that we will more than likely have to watch Melbourne win another grand final. I just hate them as a team, especially after 2009.
We can only hope that the Roosters or whoever plays them goes out hard on the big day and denies them of another premiership.
