Ok there is no real explanation that will make it ok. Surely you have all seen the World Cup organisers have said all teams must place their players with squad numbers based on when they debuted. Having DCE wear 2, Jack Wighton wear 10, Ben Hunt wearing 3, JAC wearing 9. It is beyond asinine, to the point where it would be laughable if brought up in conversation, thinking organisers of an league competition could be that dumb, yet here we are.
Nitpicking i know, but it is idiotic and confusing.

No surprises, this was apparently the brainchild of Michael Hagan 🙄
A genius if there ever was one
I was wondering why the numbers were all stuffed up on the team sheet against Fiji. This is laughable SMH
What bright spark decided this honestly.
Yet these people i bet also decide how the game is ran in the future and say on the salary cap.
Would you believe that each country had their own choice re the numbers, ie 1 - 17 each game, or the same number for the whole tournament for a particular playe etc. Australia in their wisdom signed off in 2019 , on this stupid numbering system based on when each player debuted for australia and if they debut at the same time it goes alphabetical. We can thank Micheal Hagan for "inventing" the new system. He has been an assistant coach since 2019 to Mal Meninga.
Apparently Meninga came out yesterday and said he didn't agree to it, he did sign off on it but they didn't know about it.
Wouldn't it be more cost effective too? Considering 1-17 you would have around 3 of each but now each country needs 3 each of 18-24. That is 21 more jersey's. Seems a waste.
Whilst it looks dumb I'm not all that fussed
Personally I'd like the NRL to do it similar to super league and most other professional sports. It would add to players branding aswell as play apart in contract negotiations imagine say Moses has number 7 for the length of his contract and gets 10% of every number 7 jersey or associated merchandise.
And here I was thinking they rated them on their penis lengths. I tried telling the mrs that Tinos would be far superior to Teddys , but she just wouldn't believe me. The kids teacher thought I was nutso, she reckoned Ben Hunt would have DCE covered. Then the lady next door agreed with me but then started bringing girth into it etc. and all along it was simply when they made their debut. ** facepalm **
These are the same dip ***** that run our game and people wonder why it is becoming more like touch and loosing its identity as a sport. Thesix again that now has it with more free changes and is a fast and allows more indiscretions than ever, these imbocils should be sacked for the distruction of this great game and its root.
