Woo Hoo! Ben Hunt to be offered new three year deal by Brisbane

Brisbane have moved to stave off poaching raids by launching negotiations to keep Ben Hunt and Anthony Milford as their long-term halves partnership.

In a clear indication the club intends to keep the duo together, Market Watch can reveal the Broncos are ready to offer their young stars new three-year-deals, which will tie them to Red Hill until at least the end of 2020.

It’s a significant step towards keeping their current spine together, with Andrew McCullough and Darius Boyd to follow.

In a market flush with off-contract talent, the Broncos pairing will undoubtedly become two of the most in demand players ahead of season 2018.

Market Watch understands Hunt’s preference is to remain at the Broncos but he has already received interest from at least one Sydney club.

For months speculation has run rampant that Hunt was on the outer but negotiations to extend his deal, and put him in the frame to remain a one club man, should pour cold water on those rumours.

Milford, 22, also wants to stay at the club and is poised for a big payday, as several clubs prepare to join the queue for his signature.

There are 16 genuine starting halves off-contract in 2017 and several clubs in the mix to sign a quality playmaker.

  • Hallelujah....Praise the bottom less pit club for that.
Guth won't let us down. I'm putting my highly rated woman's intuition on it ;)
  • Probably a good thing. We don't seem to have much luck in buying in players mid career, and I don't think Hunt would be a good fit at Parra. It will be interesting to see where BA takes this, but I reckon he is keeping his options open for now.

  • Guth our man.
  • Surprise Surprize Surprize

    ILL BE BACK

  • Let's just hope he doesn't ... drop the ball on this one.

  • Also on the report thingies was one that the chickens are chasing Tedesco big time for 2018 and will get him with big coin, that opens up the war chest at Wests to resign Brooks, Moses and Woods.

The current eels prospective 6 and 7 along with the few behind them should carry us well in 2017 as they combine together.

  • Surprised there was none of the usual quotes from the Broncos or their players...

The ones where players declare they are staying for less money at the Broncs. Bronco dollars.
    • Maybe the club realises now that the BR$ is worth more than the AU$. I checked the Forex rate and it is about 2:1.

    • Don't you mean the XXXX rate?
  • lol very funny stuff Longfin.

"TDS is still young, with plenty of improvement left in him. He could still play Flegg in 2026 ffs. And despite being two years younger than Ryley Smith, he has played nine more NRL games."
