Every season at about this time I hear that line uttered by anyone and everyone associated with a team in contention for claiming the minor premiership. How big of idiots do the coaches, players and club spokespersons think we the supporters are?Can anybody tell me which professional or amateur sportsperson enters a competition and does not want to finish first. Are these guys seriously telling us that they are just happy to compete and finishing first is not a goal of the team. Are we really expected to believe that the Bronco's, as stated by Wayne Bennett today, are not at all fussed as to weather they finish first or third? Why can't these people just cut the crap and say something like, " of course we would love to finish at the top of the ladder and as a professional and ambitious team we will be striving to reach that goal."What happened to talking yourself up a little?I was always stoked when Parra were minor premiers or club champions. I want to win everything and its hard to believe that as so often stated, the clubs in contention don't.

  • As i said i want to win everything.
  • I dont know Ken, its a real bad look winning the minor premiership and not winning the comp, it means nothing to me apart from a wasted opportunity if its not backed up with the premiership, same with club champions, its like rubbing salt into the wounds if you dont win the big one.

    cheers

    • Granted. But i struggle to believe that sportspeople are not striving to come first always. There is a prize for this.
BTW, right now i would be happy with a minor premiership for parra. We have not won anything since 2005 so i'll take any victory.
  • 05 as well
  • If I was parra I would be happy to win a chook raffle ATM . But I agree with the argument . The minor premiership proves you have been the best All YEAR, not just the best / had cards fall/refereeing decisions on the day
  • If this were the premier league then yeah, performances all year would be the ultimate goal. But it isn't so no one gives a rats.

In the words of Ricky Bobby 'if you ain't first you're last'.

    • That's not to say I don't want a gf , I want both aspired to
  • Carlo - did you just say you want a gf ? - holy heck - all my birthday fantasies are coming true :)))

    • Little Kram has started his birthday party early.
