I backed two in the cup. Numbers 23 and 24. I liked Rostropovich but the other nag won it for me. I had $5 bucks on both horses. They say it will pay $12! Chump change but I will take it! I had a feeling that a three-year-old would win it.

I had few first 4s on them but couldn't check them. I knew I had first 3 but wasn't sure about 4th. Didn't have it but gonna be some angry customers who couldn't access their winnings for next couple races. The phone lines were engaged too so couldn't put more bets on.
Mate wanted have couple hundred on a horse but couldn't, so switched to another agency. Multiply that by thousands of customers and it was a bad day for the agencies which went down.
the over seas horses went well again , the trifecta paid well $2,500 thanks ...
$5 each way on Marmelo 2nd and Prince of Arran 3rd. I feel like Brian Smith! That won me about $55. The finish line should’ve been closer.
Nidge: Yes, its all in the lap of the gods. Did you see that your jockey on Marmelo got a month or six weeks for his ride on Marmelo? Bowman, the rider of Winks, it was. He was suspended for overuse of the whip, for rough riding and for being overweight in the race--I think it was half a kilo ! If he had been the correct weight you might well have had the winner.1/2 K over two miles must have had some effect. I watched some of the later races and I must say that I was repelled by the way the riders flogged their horses. They should ban the use of the whip.
