William Hopoate

I haven't seen any mention of his significant contributions to our win last night. To me, he made some very gutsy runs and tackles, and, price/salary cap issues etc not withstanding, is a definite keeper for our team. Here are some stats from live.nrlstats.com:Min/receives/runs/metres/tackle breaks/tackles/errors/penalties concededWilliam Hopoate 80/22/16 /(115m) /1/14/1/1Stats don't tell the whole story, obviously, but I saw a very gutsy and committed effort from him. I feel like he plays like he WANTS to be at Parra and to me, that means he DESERVES to.Bring it on, Hopoate haters!

  • Mate he was great, We have to remember we are the ones who dudded him. I think he's carried himself professionally, and he has been playing whole heartedly , so he does have my respect.
  • So, the fact he isn't an "attack" or "strike" centre means he's no good, Wizards Sleeve?
  • I thought Hoppa was very good yesterday - showed alot of toughness and rose above all the court drama - while he obvioously has a problem with the club/contract he obviously has no issues with his fellow players and coach.

I can understand people attacking Hoppa the player but I have never seen a reason to attack Hoppa the man.

  • Robisms I also watched with interest yesterday at Will's effort for the team and there is no way it could be faulted. Some can argue the bang for the buck he brings to the team but his effort is all class. Defensively he was good and the dive and slide to clean up a loose ball late in the game yesterday afternoon was very gutsy.

Personally I hope we keep Will but on a reduced contract to what has been alleged he signed on for under Seward.

  • for reported 800 k he is no good.

    300 k tops.
  • He a great bloke & a good player, with two quality halves, a solid fullback suddenly all our players start to fill in there proper positions. I think the team will be very competitive next year. Only thing that needs to lift is there enthusiasm. Against the Roosters I thought they gave up at the end, some of those missed tackles were pathetic. They really to get mentally tough because there a huge gap between top 4 & us, something they need to change to challenge. We have lost a lot of players this year, a lot of disruption in the playing group. I think we have done ok considering.
    • I dont think they exactly gave up last week, i think the Rooster Pack finally started making dents and wore us down. We did well to match them.

    • To much jersey grabbing.
  • I like Hoppa and what he offers, but yes he needs to be on a reduced contract.

  • No way is he an $800k player, no. I do think he is worthy of a quality contract, though, and is a first grader in every team, every day of the year.

"I think Braith respects Ryles as a coach and what he's doing at Parra and obviously believes Lomax did the wrong thing, listened to poor advice and brought this all upon himself and did the wrong thing to Parra"

"Agree. He was giving to Reed who clearly hates the Eels and Reed has no idea what he's talking about. "
