Will Wests let Ofahengaue go?

I know he ain't a super star but get him going and motivated he can be a decent Prop, he is an Origin quality Prop. We are not getting what we need out of from our bench rotation. Greig was fine i guess but is nothing more than a 20min player off the bench, Makatoa though was poor tonight. Murchie is just a workhorse. We need another middle forward, very slim pickings but Ofahengaue could be available if he is sitting in NSW cup. He has a bit of money on him but Wests might be happy ot cut bait. He is a player that can kick stones and lose motivation when things do not go his way, get him in the right environment he can work out, BA could get something out of him. We need something. With three spots available why not.

Plus Matterson needs to move back to the bench, Doorey is fine on the edge, use Matterson as impact off the bench. Hands, Murchie, Matterson, Ofahengaue is a good bench automatically.

  • I thought Greig was quite good tonight. Considering our props play big minutes I think he's the perfect impact prop. I'd actually start him for 10-15 mins to soften the game then bring Paulo off the bench

    • He was good, though not sure he is what we need. Let's say Ofahengaue comes to us, is he better than Greig? Yes i believe so. If there is some better that could be available you bring them in.

      • Grieg Doorey Murchie is a good enough bench to win a lot of games when paired with Jr and RCG. But yea I agree JO is a better player.

    • 100% agree. Great takeaway. Grieg can hang with the big boys.

  • I agree that JO is an excellent target. I hope the mail I have is wrong but apparently it's a hard no on him being released. Makes sense seeings as Sheens didn't let Brooks go.

    • Wests just show the basket case they are, rather pay Ofahengaue 500-600k a year in reggies than release him and use some of his cap space elsewhere. Same with Brooks just beating a dead horse. If it is a hard no to release him then why not play him?

    • We need both, Dunster i believe is an improvement, just a Centre.

  • He would be a massive improvement on Makatoa and Murchie.

I had high hopes for Murchie but he is a plodder.

If we don't strengthen our bench and continue with the plodders we have, it will be a long and painful season.

    • Murchie is a worker, he is fine for the bench.

      • Don't agree.

He is there because we have no one better.

Once Lane and Paulo are back I believe Murchie will drop to reserve grade.
