With all the talk of the aleged up coming points loss I find it funny that there hasn't been a suspension of betting on the eels to win the premiership, is it just me or is that a sign we won't lose points, considering betting is a big part of the game these days surely the NRL has an obligation to notify the betting agencies if such penalties were going to applied

While I am a little surprised that betting hasn't been suspended, the fact it hasn't has nothing to do with whatever penalty is getting handed down, even in the case of the Dogs and Storm I beleive betting wasn't suspended until the league announced it was ready to hand down the penalty
one thing I do find interesting is I haven't seen a wooden spoon market this year instead it has been a "most losses" market, I think this could be due to the Eels salary cap and the Dogs and Storm when a couple of people in the know put bets on those teams winning the spoon before betting was suspended
ok so I was right that it may have been done in relation to the Dogs and Storm cap issues
Theres no way they will spread deducted points over 2 seasons, that would be terrible for their product, they will want to get this out of the way this year.
We've been waiting for our team to play like this for so long, let's just enjoy it!
We'll cross the penalty bridge if and when it comes.
While a points penalty hasn't been spread over two years suspended sentences have
In the case of the Storm, while they played for no points in 2010, they also had the threat of being kicked out of the comp for the 2011 season if they didn't shred just over $1 million from their cap by the end of 2010, which is why Hoffman and Inglis (along with lesser names) left after 2010.
Given that the Eels issues are more board governance issues rather then a dead set rort like Melbourne's was I could see some sort of suspended points penalty if the board members the NRL blames for this fiasco are not removed by a certain date, depending the date it might be suspended for the 2017 season or at least for later in this year.
The cap being clean for this year is really the only hope Parra have to not get at least some sort of points penalty.
In each of the cases (Bulldogs 2002, Warriors 2006 and Storm 2010) the teams were over the cap in the year of the penalty as well as preceding years with the severity of the amount over the cap and the process of cheating determining the penalty.
Not sure how it will fly in the NRL and the court of public opinion but it is a hope.
