Will we be able to match the top three?

RCG, Matterson and Joey added + Mahoney and Kafusi a year older will big big plusses.

Last year we had a good chance of beating any team except Roosters, Storm and maybe Raiders as well.

Will we be able to step up and be realistic premiership contenders this year? It is a big gap to close - to the top two anyway

Hoping Joey will make a big difference to our game management and effectiveness in the red zone. Matterson will also help improve our red zone attack. And looking forward to NBrown getting opportunities from Junior and RCG pairing up.

Don't know if our middle defence and dominance will improve against the top teams but Mahoney and Kafusi getting older and stronger should help. Mahoney's work load was managed last year but wonder if Junior would be benefit from slightly reduced minutes. Alvaro also is looking like he changing his game plan to more quality over quantity.

Punters have us as a top four but not top tier next year

  • On Paper we have a team that could get to the GF.The only thing stopping them will be injury, and self doubt, they must believe and behave like champions from day 1.

    • you didnt mention that we have a coach that cant coach, I do agree with you about the team we have.

      • BA has strengths and weaknesses. Hoping Joey can provide remedy for the weaknesses.

  • I have to say, looking at the recent pictures of Alvaro, I am thinking that he is going to have a massive year.Looks big strong and very mobile.

  • Well we did beat the Raiders so that is already not beyond us, i don't expect the Roosters to be as strong as they have been so i expect us to be pretty close to them, the Storm are our biggest problem and i think we will still struggle against them.

    • Storm are ally weaker next year but they'll find a way

      • Bellamy is still coach

    • Was not counting NT game as most of their team are pommies that melt in the heat. That said if we did not get that fake forward pass call the Canberra game could have been different

  • Mahoney was great last year but also a big issue at times. A year under his belt should make him twice the player he was last year hopefully.

Jennings 2 year deal was a big question mark for me, if he does want to play his best than he will be great but if he is just taking the club for a ride then I will be disappointed .

Dylan Brown with the back issues could be a big problem but if they are solved and he reaches his true potential then he should be in for a big year. Which will help Moses and bring us alot closer to be premiership contenders.

Rcg will we know what he can do in positive and negative,  when he is at his best he is hard to beat and will had alot of needed big man power.

Matterson coming back home is great, just needs to bring the right attitude and he could become one of the games best second rowers. If he doesn't then could bring the team down big time.

Moses has one of the best running games in the league, needs to support the forwards for the offload. Become a game manager and take control of the game at the big moment's. Showed a good short kicking game last year and needs to really lead the team around the park.

Gutherson was disappointing to me last year, whether the contract saga got to him or just bouncing back from acl tears was very disappointing and never stamped his leadership. I hope for big things from him next year and hopefully he shows the qualtity skills each game he has.

Junior Paulo needs to bring aggression to his game. Smash just one player and make them second running near him. He has the skills just needs to throw his big frame around .

    • I have questions over Jennings for 2 years as well but given space he can still set trys up and hit the gaps as well as help semi in defence.  I think we need him this for next year but definitely concerns the year after.

As for Gutho, I expect huge year.  Everyone has poor year after ACL.  Look at RTS who went from dally m to average player for a year after ACL only to return to form the next year.  Gutho was in race for Dally mn few years ago but now behind stronger pack and ball playing 2nd rower in Matterson if he returns to that form I expect to see plenty of line breaks and trys off his support play
