I know it’s only round 1 BUT after yesterday’s performance I really don’t think the Eels will even make the 8 in 2018 let alone the top 4. The team selections and rotations from Brad Arthur were again very questionable, the fitness of the players was also questionable considering all the preseason training. The goal line defence was again terrible at times and the attack was again not there. How a side can lead 14 nil then let in a very soft try just before half time and then score no points in the second half in the first game of the season is very worrying. Unless there is some dramatic change in attitude, aggression and team selection / rotations I really cannot see the Eels toppling Manly next week at Lottoland or the Tigers and Sharks in the next few weeks and then they play Penrith again. Not very encouraging signs!

Seriously Monto its only round 1, does that mean the Roosters are gone as well. I thought there were some encouraging signs in the first half.
Like I said: “ I know it’s only round 1 BUT” Not good signs early on! In comparison with some of the less favoured teams like the Knights, Titans, Tigers, Warriors who ALL have new combinations including Penrith and yet the Eels have basically retained the same players except for Hayne and Evans.
How premature. Still 23 rounds to go. Look at all the other teams that lost, Broncos, Roosters teams tipped to finish in the top 4
Actually there is another 24 rounds King Arthur, so very premature indeed.
I understand that EE BUT they begin in March! Not in May, June or July.
No Brad BUT it seems that you might! Did you read my comments ‘correctly’? Or just the heading ?
A season is 24 rounds (25 with 1 bye), but regardless, still way too early to judge our performance. We used to put 40+ In round 1 a few years back but end up coming last. First few rounds is no indication of our season, let alone 1 game.
Well said King Arthur.
