Will Smith

Just watched the replay from Brazil amigo's.... great win!Sad to see young Kaysa struck down with what looks like a season ending injury & a full knee-reco on the cards for the young solider. I put my hand up and admit, I have been critical of his performances/ability in the opening months of the season but never questioned his commitment and really thought he was finally starting to find his groove and establishing himself as the starting 9.Will Smith, I really like the kid. He has the smarts of having played first grade in the halves and at fullback for the Panthers. He is a light weight ( so is Cameron Smith) but is a pretty handy defender and puts his body in front of big bobbers. He has a crisp pass and on one play today he summed it up nicely as a former half would (think Peter Wallace) He saw both halves not in a kicking position on the last tackle and put a deft kick into the corner.I don't think we need to break the bank trying to buy a number 9 like Peatsy at $600k per season. I love Peasty but on his best day like in origin 1 he gives the halves quick ball, sticks when he hits with his defence but offers zero running or kicking game.I say we get young Will on the peptides over the off season and we have found our number 9 on $150k a year.Bom dia!Bert.

  • Completely agree with this blog.
Will, will do all that is asked of him. Nothing flash but gets the job done, adds that extra kicking threat in attack. I think BA will give the 9 to Smith and it will be his to loose for the rest of the year.
  • Where there's a Will there's a way...
  • Been impressed with him. Very solid defender and has footy smarts about him. He will own it I think
  • I can see Will Smith there for rest of the season. Guess its up to him now to own it from next year.

Like that he has alot of speed of the mark, come late in games, that's gonna help alot, especially once he gets more confident playing week to week.

Can see him and Gutho forming good combinations

  • I'm liking what I see of Fresh Prince as well, but is he an 80min hooker? Still probably need someone on the bench to give him a rest during the game.

  • Totally agree why waste money when we already have players in our roster! Throw in King and you are good to go.
    • King is shit
  • I wouldn't be surprised to see king or someone else start at hooker and Smith keep his bench spot. Not that i necessarily agree with this.
  • Completely agree Bert. I said it in another thread. That kick to the corner showed me so much and it's precisely what we've been missing. Smith is a half and to have that skill set at hooker is such an advantage. I also think if BA backed him and said you're now our hooker that Smith's confidence would improve and he'd become better too. He deserves a shot at making 9 his own.
    • Totally agree muttman, well said.Smith offers a very cool head and a very good kicking  game. Has been a very solid sub for us.
