Its believed that Will Penisni has offically taken up his player option for 2026 early. The news to be announced soon.
As the club continues in their attempts to remove all Player options from our contracts list , prior to the start of the 2025 season. Youngster Will Penisni has been one of the first to take whatever the club has offered to comit to the club early. Its well known now that club officials are attempting to remove all player options from our contracts list.
Congrats to Will and his management, it feels refreshing to have a player conduct his due diligence and know his value on the market, and to conduct negotiations in private and with speed. Some note worthy team mates might just take note.
Is this a positive for Ryles and his roster, or have we again been caught out. Either way we now have one less player option contract to worry about and puts some certainty into Wills position moving forward.

Love this. Hopefully brown can wake up to himself and do the same
There was only the three with player options will Brown and Moses hopefully will all gather sorted soon . Mitches is not due to take option till next year for 27 hopefully will be sorted as soon as possible hey
Talagi 2025, Brown 2026, penisini 2026, matterson 2026, lane 2026 and Moses 2027.
These are, were the players with options leading into this year.
There were also another 3 players with mutual options but I can't remember who they are, were.
One was Sivo I'm sure . Someone else took up their mutual option recently .
** Edit ** Lame and Dumpster
Shaun Lanes 2026 is supposedly a mutual option
Haze Dunster also took up his 2025 player option
Josh Ado Carr has a club option for 2026
But they dont have clauses in them as stated at the Members Forum on Tuesday night the ones you mentioned are just up for new contracts
That list was from an article last year when it all blew up. All those players did or do have options in their contracts. Some have left , others have already taken up the option, lane and matterson both recently took up their options I'm pretty certain.
Edit.
Talagi is on the open market after knocking back an option in his contract to stay put, with several of his teammates having similar clauses in their favour. The Eels have drawn criticism for giving eight of their stars an “option” in their contract, the majority of which are in the favour of the player.
The above is from an article by Adrian Proszenko 24 July 2024.
As I said H at the members forum on Tuesday Night the Ceo Mon and the new chairman stated as of then there were only the three that had clauses will. Brown and moses and since 2022 there had been i think was 22 or 23 new contracts have been signed by old and incoming players that had No clause and was stated by the new chairman that the days of installing clauses was over and they were working get the three of them done if possible as soon as they can .Thats what was told but who the stuff knows hey
Glad you attended Hector, whatever is said by Jim and MON should be taken at face value - both are the authors of this mess, to some to extent they covering their tracks.
Yes Mick will just have wait and see hey met the new chairman on the way over from the club to combank came up and introduced himself to me and my grandson hes a 21 and a mad eels fan I've brainwashed him since he was 5 . The chairman came across as a top guy been a eels fan since he was a kid and been successful in business apparently. Mate there seemed to be no bullshit in him and what he stated seemed to go across pretty well in the meeting . One thing the grandson said about J Ryles was pop hes got a face that says don't Fuck with me . I thought that was very appropriate. But mate i guess we ill all just have the fingers and everything else crossed and hope for the best outcome hey
