Will Our Forwards Aim Up?

Now that we have one of the best backlines in the comp do we have the forwards to give them room to move? More importantly are we able to finally defend consistently to compliment our attacking options in the backline?

Personally I would go with these forwards, starting pack:

Mannah

Peats/King

Paulo

Ma'u

Scott (right side in defence, middle in attack)

Edwards (right side in attack, middle in defence)

Interchanges

Moeroa

Wicks

Watmough

Gower/Alvaro

I don't think we can have both Scott and Watmough in the forwards together, both being on the small side and both not attacking players anymore (both only average 60 metres per game). Both Ma'u and Edwards are aggressive attacking players with good offloads in them.

  • I 100% agree
  • I agree with this if we don't end up losing Paulo to the Raiders for this season.

  • Triple M reported that Paulo and Pauli will be gone within the next two weeks big mistake I reckon. Should got rid of Morgan and Folou
  • Don't agree
Watmough is a great leader of the pack
Hoping he is fixed and back to his attacking best this year
Watmough starts in the middle and Edwards off the bench

Defending will be easier if we have more possession and more reward for hard work

Foran does not need space. He can still perform with a forward pack that is not going forward.
  • I do agree. However i would use Tep as the right side attacker and central defender. He started all last year and carried injury without complaint. He and Jr are out best young forwards. He shouldnt be stifled. He is the best line running forward at the club and with Jenning outside him and Foran feeding him he could be anything. With regard to Watty he would be absolutely fantastic as a super sub who comes on after 20 and injects some passion like he has done previously in origin. Why King??? If Kaysa can stay healthy id choose him. However this is his ginal opportunity. Our forwards have always been better than our backs over the last few years. I think our forwards are top four
    • LoL ginal opportunity
  • Final
  • Beau Scott - Small side? Have you seen him. Beside the bloke is one of the most aggressive and hardest hitters in the NRL!!!

Aside from that, its an interesting point you put across. I have a feeling BA is going to already have pulled aside Peats, Scott and Mannah/Watmough  and told them they need to set the platform is aggression and encouragement. This is personally where I think Beau Scott will be awesome.

  • Let me take a stab at answering this.

Imagine being a forward last year, where every hard earned metre gained was lost 5 fold by a right side defense who couldn't....well...defend.

Now this year you have Foran defending and more than likely Jennings and Guth on the right. That alone would lift my spirits and make me work hard as a forward, because I'd know that for every metre I gained in attack, we'd probably at worse lose a metre in
    Defense.

Of course our forwards aren't shabby anyway and we've added more experience and some youth.

Maybe we'll lose Pauli and Junior, but Alvaro and Tep and others are still there or coming through.
