Given how good Papali'i is going and given Matterson's issues with concussion, will he be offered a new contract?
The Eels could possibly save 600k + by letting Matterson walk?

I doubt it, we wont be matching big offers, i think we'll let him go.
It definitely gives us better leverage. We won't need to outbid other teams. But, if Matterson wants to stay then we keep him on the same money. We then decide if Lane stays...
They keep talking Papali'i as a middle forward. I think he's (Arthur and Papali'i) got his eye on number 13.
Lane still has another 2 years after this and I don't see any great back rowers coming soon so they could spend the money elsewhere like a centre or another edge player is heathy

He's gotta get healthy first. He has an option in his favour, if the concussion problems persist, he'll pick up his option, so he has 18 months to earn that next deal.
With Papali'i's form I think the more realistic question is will we offer Nathan Brown another contract?
There's a few clubs with a ton of cap space. If someone makes a big, long term offer to NB I think he'll take it and we won't fight it.
I have no idea why Papali'i goes to the bench when Matterson is named. Surely, Lane gets demoted to the bench and Papali'i keeps his spot. For Fuck Sake. Lane was good barring two errors. This was probabaly his best match in so long and his performance was at best pushing a 8/10. PLZ BA OPEN YOUR MIND TO THIS OPTION.
Who is saying he goes to the bench? He's a must for the starting side. I think Lane will go to the bench
