Will Hopoate

I don't have any secret sources, or articles for this, but I'll post it anyway since not much is going on in regards to player signings at Parramatta.

I'm hearing around the place that Hopoate will be heading to Brisbane instead of Parramatta, because he "didn't finalise his contract" and still has contact with Steve Kearney.

Personally, I don't believe it, it doesn't really make sense that such a religious and hence "moral" person would back out of a deal like that. With his brother at the club, that would act to keep him with us. Also, the thought of him following renowned NRL coach Steve Kearney to Brisbane starts to set off my bullshit alarms.

Just thought I'd post it anyway, see what people think.

  • I heard Jennings, Hopoate, Hodges, Lyon, Morris, Tonga and Tate are all heading to GWS?
  • Clubs don't announce to the public a player signing unless its a done deal.

    • Done deals though don't always turn out to be done deals.

Like Steve Turner to the Titans, Luke Lewis to the Bunnies, Greg Inglis to the Broncos.... In the Inglis case, it might not have been a "done deal" but the Broncos were pretty sure they had their man.

  • Was a rumour on the broncos forum on LU by a noted shit talker

Hopoate signed a contract, no get out clauses.
  • Will paraded himself last year in Eels colours. Strange for a bloke who has no actual connection to the club.
  • If this is true which I doubt he has no brains anyway, why would you follow Kearney who will only be assistant coach instead of playing under Stuart who would be better for his career
  • its has no real merit at all, its a lot like stories going around andrew voss would get osbournes old job  as ceo of the football club, it was rubbish and shows it now with edwards getting the gig.

did you know parra sends a trainer for one year to work with hoppa, would parra our club do that if he wanted out of hes contract, and daniel if it did happen falou will sooner then later be a eel, wait for it, it will happen..

and the wild cards surely greg bird and jennings.

no merit at all...move on to other matters like who ken crappers big name coming to the eels for 2013, or the snakes down down blog, funny guy the snake, maybe he got scared of voss, he got hes wish voss never got the job, funny guy the snake...inall truths.

there's only one way it could happen if ricky dont want hoppa...and hes looks for a out of the contract, it has no merit hoppa backing sk as a coach, come on man..

  • When you get an outside back make such an impression at such at early age, they will be special players. The second youngest player to ever play State of Origin and he not only played he played well. He played a handful of games at fullback and was MoM in about half of them,

When you add on the fact that he appears to be a really grounded kid, it's hard not to imagine that he isn't going to be one of the best in the game.

Halves don't always kick on, because opposition teams work them out. Outside backs generally rise to prominence out of sheer athleticism and that only improves as they get older. Pick pretty much every 19/20 year old that plays rep at that age and they almost always prove to be in the game's elite - Inglis, Folau, Hodges, Lyon, etc.

Those players don't come up very often and if you can get them, you get them because they're the players you based the rest of your squad around.

  • I agree with Wiz too. But I'm afraid he'll be with us for 2014 as no one else will pay him such an obscene amount of money.

  • Daniel or Longy, I have been advised by a member of the jnr coaching brigade, that Hopoate has signed BUT there's a clause stating if SK leave's he has an option NOT to take up the contract. I take that as fact. I trust my mate and source. I hope he is there as he's a good'n as Oneeyed said. But if he does not come along then I won't lose sleep much

BA has told the media Mitch is unlikely for next week and Origin 1. Probably good that he doesn't rush back just to help NSW and get hurt again. Hopefully he's good to go for RD 14 v doggies.

Bad luck is the 50/50 calls go against you the bulk of the time. Dropping balls, poor kick chase, or throwing the ball over the sideline, isn't bad…"
