Arthur is only in his first year at Parra, so it's a tough question to ask just yet, but based on what you have seen does he compare to John Monie and Brian Smith? Monie won a comp in 1986 and Brian Smith achieved several finals appearances with a GF appearance in 2001. We do know this, he's better than SK and RS.

He's coached just over half a season and hasn't won anything yet. This would perhaps be a better question to be asked in a decade.

If he keep this up i say yes. Put it this way hes better then the last two we had.
And how of last five coaches we had he 3rd best coach so far and moving up.
AS I said in a different blog Gibson travellled to the states to view the show that vince Lombardi was running at the packers.
Arthur is heading to the states to see how it is run at the sea hawks. I can smell three premierships on the trot.

Has Wayne Bennett ever been to the States? Are NRL coaches that in need of help they must go there? I'm sure it's a good experience and valuable, but are NFL coaches the pioneers in success?
You went searching for that one Hamish, it's two years old. Geeze my writing was horrible back then.
How can you compare either of them? Gibson is held in such high regard because he won 5 premierships at two different clubs and his methods have stood the test of time.
We'll have to wait and see. As of yet, Arthur hasn't won anything, and until he does, he's nowhere near Gibson.

It's still a pretty rough question to ask. Monie won a premiership and Brian Smith was Parramatta's most consistent coach after Gibson. Multiple finals series and were a Premiership threat for most seasons. Like I said, come back a little further down the track rather than rushing into the comparisons. Now is not the time given we are yet to qualify for the finals. We have two matches left. We win those two and see how far we go in the finals.
