Why we'll win tonight

The much maligned Eels have a point to prove tonight not only personally but as a collective.I like their chances tonight. The fact other members on the site give them little chance I thought I'd outline why I think they have a great shot. I beleive we match up well against the panthers the fact that their spine has had long injury lay offs result usually in timing errors whether that be in defence, passing, running lines and general kicking.Parra's strength is our running of the football on the fringes, if we can isolate their halves our forwards particularly Mau, Pauli and the player I beleive will have a massive game Taka can cause havoc.this will require the side as a whole to support the ball carrier one of the weaker components of our side. This is an area Sandow could be a revelation if he put his mind to it. It's no secret Parra play some of their best footy off the back of offloads, it's only a matter of risking it over our oppositions side of halfway and not ten out. With Mansour back after a long layoff he'll be the man to pepper with our attacking kicks. We may be able to force a mistake or two on his wing.the key to tonight's game is the first twenty. If we can stop them falling into their routine of how they like to play their footy, we can make life very difficult. If we put them under pressure key players like Soward resort to bad habits.the first twenty is where the game will be won. Good luck parra, we could all use the win.30-16 our way.

  • I share your optimism Bup but I'm still expecting the dagger thru the heart around the 65-70 minute mark.

  • That's generally been the way it's gone of late. Pure odds mean we're due. We seem to play our best footy fresh ala first game of the season. Maybe we need to have two days off training before each match.
  • I agree. We're due. Tonight's the night for a big upset. But then, when is any Parra win of late not an upset...

    • Those who doubted, shame on you. ;-) Well done, boys!

  • Panthers by 26

    • in the first half that's the score full time score by 48 to 4

  • you lost me at taka can cause havoc. Please be realistic

    • Mate, Bup is completely realistic in what he's written. Taka is a big body and, one on one, he's hard to bring down. Parra's strength is in the forwards. We've matched it with every forward pack we've faced this season. Getting early ball to our back-rowers will give them room and if Taka can isolate his man he's very good at putting his winger away.

  • heres hopping BUPA, ill take an insurance policy from you any time

  • Cheers for a positive nlog for a change
