Why was Sivo sent off?

I can understand a penalty and on report but the initial contact was with the Titan players shoulder, head was secondary and arms wrapped around his body. The secondary nature of the head knock was why there was no HIA required. This was known at the time since Atkinson the bunker ref called it back a few plays - as play had already progressed. The onfield ref did not even think it deserved a penalty at the time. This totally changed the game. Parra was dominating until then and looked likely to put on a big score.

  • Still contact with the head. Sivo has priors too so that would come into play also. I mean that was the big thing before. Since last year where it was any contact with the head was 10 in the bin, no matter how serious or mild it was. They didn't get it out of the game because they probably realised they couldn't. Then they stopped sending every head contact to the bin. Which set a dangerous precident. So, it's not exactly "why was sivo sent off?" It's more why isn't every head contact still sent off.

  • I understand Sivo being binned, but if you're doing that, dare I say Cartwright should have been binned too. If you are being consistent with contact to the head why no bin for that? It's making it up as they go at times to be fair.

Cartwright's tackle did sort of hit shoulder and move up, but still contact with the head? It's just a lucky dip at times.

  • Agree the initial contact was with the shoulder then face on the bicep of Sivo. It was soft as fuck and should not have been a send off.
the bunker should not have gone back to a play from a minute earlier that caused no injury

  • He was sent off because he's been targeted by bunker and refs and the NRL tries there hardest to stop the Eels . Why wasn't Tino binned for his elbow into the throat of Mitch Moses ?

    • They really wanted the QLD team to win.. reffing was atrocious. Multiple send offs, six agains galore...even the commentators were saying you never know how a games going to pan out during a match (I.e. it doesn't matter if the other team is the better team, more dangerous and best defense.. once the refs get involved they can change the outlook of a game - that's how I read the comment)

    • Sivo should have been suspended twice this year lifting elbows, i think he has been quite lucky with the refs to be honest
