Why the mid field bombs?

I think a big problem is our fifth tackle options. We continue to kick mid field bombs there fore giving the opposition good field position. Usually around the 40 meter line. Its hard to keep them away from our line and we are on the back foot and struggling to get out of our half

  • Our fifth tackle options were disgusting and lost us the game.
    • Agreed. We run it alot on the fith too. Havent had many repeat sets this year
    • We play like we have no coach and Moses and Corey and like oil and water as far as halves go, they just arnt going well together.

  • Thinking that myself Goose. And when we do kick the midfield bomb we don’t contest it..why?.  Would prefer to bury it into touch or deep ingoal and allow ourselves time to breath and reset defence.

    • They have done it for a couple of years now so its definatly a coaching play. You are right Archie. There is no chase so the fullback or winger is unlikely to drop it
  • I've noticed this as well. It's not working but we keep doing it.

I think Snake is on the money with his comment about Moses and Norman not being the right blend. It's two 5/8's and their not sure who's the dominant one and neither of them are steering the side (Guth was calling the shots towards the end there). One of them has to go.

  • It's because our 7 is an over rated idiot.
He has one fair game per month.
    Can't lead.
    Can't organize.
    Kicking game is rubbish.
And he is behind a pack that get demolished every week.
    We will get the spoon.
    We are a disgrace
  • I think Val Holmes had to take one ball on the full in 80mins. For a bloke that hasn't been real good under a high ball that's pretty poor on our part. Bombing from 40m out and landing it 30m out is just pointless... and we did it again, and again, and again. The simple kick to the corner then bash in defence just seems a foreign idea to this team / coach. Combine that with virtually no second phase / offload play and no wonder we never win a territory battle.

  • I thought our forwards played fine. Apart from the errors.

    The kicking was TERRIBLE.
