Hey guys
I have been living across the ditch in NZ for the last 10 years. I am trying to work out why with the best roster we have had in many a moon and playing against the reigning premiers we can only draw 12000 fans. I know there would be next to no opposition fans but it seems an incredibly low number. I went to many of the 86 home games in which we averaged 20 000 for the season. Times have changed it seems despite the fact we have what nearly 20 000 members. Can't work it out. To quote Phil Gould - bring back Sunday afternoon footy!

I was thinking the same thing James.
Didn't make much sense. 17,000+ Thursday night game 8pm round 1. (Awful time slot, especially for kids)
12,000 Saturday night 7 30pm and KFC> Kieran Foran Captain a definite starter.
Maybe the daily negative media, loss of points threat again, and administration F-ups is taking its toll on some of the fans.
I'm guessing it's because they wanted to stay home and watch it whilst getting on here, bagging the shitt out of the current board and believing they would be boardroom world beaters themselves, all whilst gizzing over each other in chat rooms.
Didn't think of that now did you?
Back then, you could either listen to the game on the radio, or go to the game and watch all 3 grades. I would much rather have watched Wentie last night than Luke Burts boys running round. But I would have much preferred the option of all 3.
In the 90's I loved sitting on the hill, and drinking/smoking if I so chose. And you would never wait 10 minutes for the guy selling big league, as happened last night. The hill is now maybe 10 rows of seats followed by a signage blockade by the fun police. Probably reducing capacity by 1,000 combined both ends.
Last week some mates installed Foxtel with the 3 months for free via satellite, whilst others now watch the game from their phones. I can see why they no longer go along.
The economy could also be turning shortly, signalled by recent talk of an upcoming federal election. The average footy fan might be reconsidering their weekly expenditure. Why not give the local kids some free tickets. I was disappointed by the announced crowd size, but thought the crowd was still very vocal.
wonder if anyone has cracked our code yet????

The cows are out of towners with no more than a few hundred traveling fans, they dont have many in sydney, to add to that in 86 we generally played local/NSW teams and we had years of success.
Plus we have the odd drama atm, thats enough to put a few off for sure.
To add to that theres a good chance our membership dept have given 5 thousand tickets out to the wrong stadium.
It's called winning
Having been forced fed half a decade of vomit - it's no wonder fans stay away.
Look at Parra's performance against Brisbane (yes minus playmakers) - but DULL and BORING
Now after a polished performance against the premiers and rivals Bulldogs next week - look for a big crowd
If Parra DOES have the roster that will bring winning footy (which i believe it does) - Parra will have no problem swelling crowd numbers
but hey - don't discount the 6 years of GARBAGE that we have had to endure
the footy Team OWES the fans and must produce on the paddock
It's the Teams own fault for declining crowds for being useless for so long........well, maybe up til now
Winning fixes everything
