Ran into Izzy a few months back and he said he's gonna stay with the Wallabies to the end of 2016 for 2 Reasons:

(1) Wants to play in Rugby World Cup next Year, 3rd Largest Sporting Event behind Soccer World Cup & Olympics

(2) HIs chance to represent Australia in Rugby 7's at 2016 Rio Olympics and win an Olympic Medal.

Unless something drastic happens (family reasons, etc), Rugby League will NEVER provide the opportunity in his sporting career to be on the World Stage at that kind of level.

PS: I know I've already replied in another blog using this info but thought I should make a separate one anyway :)

  • I think he's a fantastic player but unless he comes and plays fullback I don't think we need him.

    • Every club in the world could use Izzy. These are the players that win you Premierships. Roosters had plenty of talent in their second row but SBW got them the grand final win. We're not talking about even quality NRL players here, we're talking about world elite.

  • It makes sense, I was hoping for 2016 but I can see how if you've gone the path that Izzy has gone down then I'd probably want a shot at an Olympic medal as well.

    • Totally agree 1EE, to represent your country at the Olympics is one of Sports Highest Honours and to win an Olympic Medal is the icing on the cake :)

  • If he were to come, where would you play him? As you've said he's world elite, his running game is awesome, his fitness is right up there, he's too skillful and good to only be playing one side of the field.

A halves pairing of Foran and Hayne wouldn't be too bad.

  • Who cares. Sick of hearing about him.
    • Haha me too Slip, thats why I made this blog otherwise people keep bringing him up saying he's gonna sign for Parra when at this point he isn't.

  • Im not sure what to make of this blog.
You know the world cup is 2015 right ?
Just saying you need to think 2015 would be his last season in rugby.
So your story about him coming to league in 2017 is wrong.
Shall i post a link to 2015 rugby world cup.

    • "how come the best nba players do not play in olympics"

The Dream Team (Jordan, Magic and Bird)
2012 Olympic Team (Lebron, Kobe, Durant)

      Stop Trolling.
    • Derp, I never said I was Izzys Marketing Machine, Its what he told me when I bumped into him in Norwest Shops. For most athletes/sportspeople, to go to the Olympics and have a once in a life time chance to participate and even win a Medal is a Freakn Huge personal achievement for anyone & cannot be understated at all. Michael Jordan won 2 Olympic Gold Medals as did Kobe Bryant, LeBron James & Kevin Durant and to play the worlds best on the worlds biggest sporting arena is the pinnacle of many athletes/sports stars. In saying that though, situations & circumstances could change in the future and Izzy could easily play NRL in 2016 but again, only going off what he told me.

I reckon if Semi, Haynes or Sivo had persisted in the NRL we might be talking about them breaking the NRL try scoring record. I think Semi and Hayne were close to 1 try per game average over 100 games? Thoughts?
