Why isn't Sterlo halves coach?

Everyone's been saying that the problem is the halves. Well I think that it's about time that Kearney enlisted the help of Parramatta legend Peter Sterling. Sterling had an ability when he played and he still does, to read the play 3 plays ahead. That's what our halves need to be taught. They also need to be taught to kick the ball into the ground. It seems that every time our halves kick the ball goes straight to the fullback. I think that if Sterling is the halves coach Parramatta will be much more of a threat in 2011.

  • Finally, someone on here with common sense!
  • We went to Johns because, as you said Fitzy was in charge. Also the small factor of 3 Dally M medals was a big draw card. Both Johns and Sterling were the best halfbacks in their time.
  • with Sterlo having hip replacements, is he able to coach in a hands on way as far as showing the halves how to run and kick properly?
  • Sterlo is paid very well with his media career so I don't think they could entice him with money. All Parra fans would like to see him involved but so far he's had his reasons to stand back. SK has stated that he will persist with Morts and Robbo, so the best we can hope for is a miracle, even with Sterlo's "divine" intervention.
  • <---------  maybe sterlo is waiting for the right recruit to come along

  • Alleluia ! Someone that bloody understands me! If Sterlo cares so much about us then he'd coach the halves .. SOS TO STERLO !!
  • I actually was gonna post the same blog yesterday hahaha!
  • Nobody has mentioned that the game has changed since Sterlo played and this could be a problem. I don't see why Parra can't approach Andrew Johns.
  • Just for the record, I was joking, so before you guys start flaming me...
  • OK i know alot of people believe that Sterlo isn't the answer. There is alot of argument as to whether he is suited to the job. Firstly I admit that the game has changed since he played, however the halves need to be taught how to read the game and this hasn't changed. Secondly Johns has moved on since then and it could be hard for him to juggle other clubs and his channel nine commitments. Thirdly Parra need a halves coach who has no other coaching commitments. The NSW coaching  job is a high pressure position and I don't think Ricky needs the extra pressure of coaching the Parra halves. Also Sandow is not necessarily the greatest halfback to play the game and he may not necessarily be the answer to our problems. Sure Sandow may have a slightly higher skill level than Robson but his defence is not as good as Robson's and his consistency is not at the standard that we need it.
